Revision surgery?

Options

I had chosen not to reconstruct and am mostly happy with that decision. I go with or without prostheses depending on what I am doing. Honestly, mostly with. I have seen mention of revision surgery on some of the threads. This is the first I am hearing of it. I have been left with pockets of hanging tissues under my arm pits off to the side of my torso. I am always having to adjust the bra's and even my shirts. Can't wear tanks or sleeveless as the tissue will have a tendency to pop right out. I also get rashes in the flab's there when it gets real humid, have tried all kinds of starches and powder but I think the irritation from the material moving around it makes it worse. Those of  you who have had revision surgery, what was it like, what did they do to flatten out that area? Was there alot of downtime?

Thanks

I had a revision - actually kind of a modified revision to somewhat correct the tissue left after my BMX.  The large hunk on my prophy side was the thing that bothered me most and was quite uncomfortable and at times painful besides being unsightly under clothes.  I'm not thin and trim, so comfort and leveling out is what I wanted without going into extensive surgery.  My PS followed along the original BMX incisions, but extended them a bit farther around my side and also in the front to remove the excess tissue.  It was same day surgery - used surgical glue so I was able to shower - no drains, no dressings, was told not to wear breast forms or anything too snug on my chest for a couple weeks so as not to irritate the incisions.  I was give RX for pain meds, but didn't use anything but over the counter.  My right side felt a little weird for a couple weeks or so, but the after that, the increase in my comfort level was huge after the revision.

I tried to get one to correct a radiation burn to the mastectomy scar. The PS put me on a wild goose chase to put it nicey.  She did a bait & switch on me.  My point is that you need ot find a PS that you have confidence in & they will do what they say they will they do.

Sending lots of love & support. NJ
