Where did you find the recipe for a bread machine with gluten free?  Can't wait to hear how you like it Kira. 

Boy, that other thread is annoying!  I must stop going there, but that savagry shouldn't be allowed on a board about women with bc.  Vapors, definitely angry enough to have the vapors!

Oh boy the grand children just left and I am going to have another glass of wine. My 5 year old princess got here without having had lunch and was a BRAT. We got her to eat and she improved a tiny bit but she still wanted to be princess of the world. Hard on her parent and her 2 sibs but they had to take her home and we don't have to deal with her any more unil she comes back WOO HOO. She is my oldest grandchild and I love her more than life itself but today was a really bad day.

We had hotdogs, pasta salad with lots of veggies,beans berries and ice cream.

Well I have proved again that 2 glasses of wine are certainly enough for me. I am very mellow. The kids took a while to leave because the litle ones left their mom's car door open and she needed a jump.

I am going to watch tv for a while but probably fall asleep early. Those kids wear me out but I love every minute of it.

I can finally join the foodie group. Got my first cucumber and a head of broccoli from the garden. I'm so excited I may not be able to eat anything.

On another note, I just started reading "The Emperor of All Maladies: A biography of Cancer" by Siddhartha Mukherjee. Has anyone else read it? I heard inteviewed on NPR a while back. Made lots of sense about a very complex topic.

Ah, yes... the 5-year-old princess granddaughter. 

I have one of those.  She's my only grandchild, and I love her dearly, but she is a picky eater with a capital "P".  Her dad (my stepson) and mom struggle to get her to eat anything.  Her mom tries to restrict her to "healthy" foods, so most snack foods and sweet things are off-limits.  But the kid is really tiny and is way underweight for her age -- by far the smallest child in her class.  So, dh and I are beginning to wonder if it wouldn't be better to let her eat anything she's willing to eat.  Chocolate milk?  Fine.  Ice cream?  Even better.  Pudding?  Great!  She eats certain types of fruit and a very few veggies, but her preferences change by the hour.

The trouble her mom & dad are having with all this was obvious when we were there for a visit earlier this year.  She really is willing to go without a meal (including dessert, of course) rather than eat something she thinks she won't like.

I had to grit my teeth to keep from laughing, though, 'cause her daddy was one of the pickiest eaters on the planet when he was 5 years old.  Oh, the hours I spent trying to come up with a meal I thought he would eat, or something he'd said was his "favorite" food a few days earlier.  I was convinced he would starve to death and it was making me crazy. A funny thing happened when he reached adulthood and enlisted in the Army.  Suddenly, pretty much any type of food was good enough.

Tell me how the gluten-free flour dishes come out.  I had some gluten-free cookies once, baked by a friend of mine; and they were tolerable but reminded me of unleavened bread.

Supper was boring:  thick-cut slices of smoked ham, with nuked potatoes and great Northern beans.  I need some ice cream, but we're still out.

Does she have ADHD too, Rosemary? I know you mentioned it was in the family. If she does, my condolences. I have a nephew and two second cousins and one first cousin with it. Hell on wheels.

Binva - sorry to hear that your dh is still so sick.  I would let him stay covered up - give him a couple of ibuprofen to bring the fever down and let him just sweat it out.  Sometimes if they sweat enough the fever will go down on its own.  The sweat gets rid of the toxins in his body.

It is rainy today and hence my shoulder is killing me.  My hip is back to normal thankfully.

Dinner will be tortellini with alfredo sauce and grilled chicken on top.  Nothing special as I am exhausted from this weekend.

My tomato plants are starting to flower so hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks I will start getting fresh tomatoes which will be about the same time my basil is ready also. 

My condolences. I know whereof you speak!

For someone who has dealt with ADHD making light of it is not fun. You have really made me angry. I have an adopted foster son who has dealt with it his entire life, and it sucks.

Kira -- I've been following this conversation and I have not seen any posts that suggest anyone has made fun of either ADD or ADHD.  I have a niece and nephew with ADD and it has been such a struggle for them and for their parents.  I sympathize with you and Rosemary and others who are dealing with it.

BinVa -- I agree that Tim needs to sweat it out, but Ibuprophen should help lower his temp.  DH had something similar a couple of years ago.  His temp was up to 103 at one point, while shivering so much I had to pull out the electric blanket AND a heating pad, on top of a couple of blankets.  I was terrified, but he pulled through!

Just to add it isn't just adhd he was born to a crack/alcohol addicted person who gave birth c-section in hospital and walked away.
