WhiteRabbit, That video is too funny. Thanks for sharing.

Oh how I miss fresh tomatoes. In Florida winter is the time to grow them. Will just have to wait.
-
Caerus-Sunflowers ... No, the ignore button apparently works for the account, no matter what name it is in. The people I have on ignore stay ignored, no matter what they call themselves. That fact comes in handy with people who have multiple identities and then change their names around ... It is like a nice early-warning system for another rash of difficulties. (Ok, trying to be appropriately elliptical and tactful here!). As I have often said, the ignore button has dramatically improved the quality of my reading experience on BCO.

White Rabbit .. I am so jealous of your tomatoes. The deer and rabbit got mine, they even ate the plants. I give up on growing food, think I will stick with my flowers.

Church was so flipping hot I almost had the vapors! No air conditioning. We had the money all lined up and then the donor decided to give it to another church whose boiler went out. How do you say no to a church with no heat in Michigan In February. This was the last time of many we almost had air conditioning. And almost haivng air conditioing is not at all like having air conditioning!
I am so glad we have someone who flits form thread to thread telling us to carry on or move on to a new topic. We wouldnn't want for one minute to have to think for ourselves,
-
This is for BinVa, You asked about the turtles. I think they are pond turtles. From what my DS said I guess they are about 2 feet in size. We are heading over there today to see the work they have done.
-
Oh, rosemary, it is SUCH A JOY to read your posts -I was wondering why those "visitations" - and I keep wondering how many of them are the same person? Expecially love the "time for a new topic" accompanied by some outrageous C&P ( cut & paste) - wonder the band width those are taking up? But don't dare call them "trivial" - that was nother word that made me chuckle.
-
G'day, all. Too funny about the vapors. I suppose I have a chronic case, then... I've never fainted, though.
Sweltering misery here. Good day to work. Might go swimming at my club later.
Bren, I am glad it was not too late a night for you. -
Well crap .. Tim is sicker than a dog today. I think it is a stomach bug. He hasn't got out of bed, poor baby. So I went to the dump, returned some movies and went to the grocery store.
Kira .. those turtles are huge! The box turtles around here are only about the size of your hand. It must be a big pond!
I've never fainted, but I've seen stars, so close to it. Guess I don't have the vapors.
Hope everyone is enjoying the day,
Bren
-
Well, it's always an exciting day when you can go to the dump! Our's isn't open on Sunday. Edited to add that I'm sorry Tim is sick.
-
Alpal - LMAO!
Last night I got home and read all 5 new pages but was too tired to respond. Sounds like everyone for the most part is eating amazingly! I did make that special italian pasta dish for my trainer Friday night as it was easy to make.
I started cleaning her house at 9:30 am on Friday by noon I was at the barn prepping for the horse show. It was MIDNIGHT before we had all of the tack clean, trailer loaded, horses braided, horses bathed and clipped, etc. We then had to get up at 5:15 am as we needed to pull out of there no later than 6:30 am.
We didn't get out of there until 7 am which meant we got to the show, I had time to tack up my horse and head directly to the show ring. No warm-up for either one of us and we bombed the test. But it was my very first dressage show and I don't care. We made it through the test and yes at times it was ugly because Jazzy refused to go forward and I had to hit her with the dressage whip since she was ignoring my leg aids which caused her to kick out and buck. Not something the judges ever wanted to see oh and yes...I also had to yell at my horse because she was being such a biatch with her bucking and you get points deducted for that too.
In any event, I made it to my first show and I didn't end up on the ground so that is huge for me especially since I came off of her last week. The best thing was that I was not nervous and scared as I thought I might be.
Now that this is behind me I can be around more often!
-
The best part of the show - my friend's husband looked at his wife and said "Is Jancie OK? She has lost so much weight." He thought my weight loss was due to getting a recurrence.
Awesome that some guy I have only ever seen twice in my life noticed I have lost 18 lbs since May!
-
Allison .. yep, exciting day. ha!
Jancie .. congrats on getting through your first dressage show. You finished the course and that's what counts. Sorry Jazzy was being such a brat. I used to go with my sis when she showed dressage .. it was lots of fun.
Bren
EDITED: Jancie .. yay for you on the weight loss!
-
My exciting day is going to be vacuuming ... a trip to the dump sounds better! 2 dogs/2cats ... whenever anybody asks me what I do after retiring I tell them I run a vacuum. Mentally too sometimes but that's a whole nother topic.
Kira ... I found several videos of turtles opening doors. I remembered seeing one on AOL in the last few days and went looking for it. Didn't find that video but did find several others. You might want to warn your DS
Anybody who wants to make a road trip to Indiana in about a month would most likely return home with tomatoes. In past years I have actually mailed tomatoes to my sister in California and my step-daughter in Florida. And I used to think both of these places probably had good tomatoes year around.
-
Jancie, congrats on the weight loss, amongst orner things.
-
jancie ... congratulations!
Hope Tim gets to feeling better Bren. And doubly hope he doesn't pass the 'bug' on to you!
-
WR - never heard of mailing tomatoes, but I've been know to mail large boxes of magnolia leaves to my sister at Christmas. How do you decorate the mantle without magnolia leaves? LOL
-
Jancie, congrats. Great job staying on. Rosemary, LMBO. Pot, kettle. Bren, sorry Tim is feeling poorly. Hoping he rallies soon.
-
Janice - wish you could have come to KY for the WEG. The dressage was amazing. Actually, everything was amazing.
-
Janice, my daughter was into riding big time! Eventing, hunter, jumper, western...you name it she did. Even won provincial championship for driving cart with our miniature horse. Anyways, her first time in the dressage ring her horse jumped out at the far end. She calmly walked the horse around, entered the ring, gave the judges the nod of the head and continued on. She was 10 at the time and showing with adults so the judges were quite amused.
-
Jancie, congrats on getting back in the ring. I love watching dressage. Hunter/jumper is too scary for me, with its possibility of falls (for horse and/or rider). Cross-country? Forget it. But, the precision and control of dressage is beautiful. And, of course, congrats on the weight loss! You can have some of my extra pounds, if you ever need any.

Bren, maybe Mr. Tim caught one of those quick, overnight bugs and will be back to his normal self by tomorrow. Use lots of Purell, even though some people think it doesn't kill Norovirus etc.
I was soooo good today. Mr. otter brought home a Sunday paper; and in the Want Ads I found an announcement about a local antique shop that's going out of business. They are selling everything -- even the shelving and display cases. I could use some ready-made display cases and shelves for all the things I've accumulated lately, but I buried the Want Ads in the middle of the paper so I couldn't see that announcement anymore. It would have been too tempting to go there and see all the stuff they'd marked down.
So, instead, I dug through a box or two of my own stuff, and found some things to take to Goodwill next week. Progress was made.

Bren - Glad Tim got home OK - hope he gets better soon
Jancie - how is your back?

Dinner tonight is uncured organic beef hot , organic sauerkraut, and gluten free mac and cheese....comfort food.
-
my ears just perked up, not to mention my taste buds: gluten free mac& cheese???? Do you make it from "scratch" or is it prepared. Hoping the latter, I am lazy.
thank goodness I go to bed early, but I just want to THANK so many women for trying to keep these boards sane, informative, and safe, especially for those folks, new & old, who are combining complementary medicine with their more traditional options - MOTC, who always cuts to the chase, Ang7, Letlet, AnneNYC, Rosemary-b(Quack!), hillck, elmcity69, and lots more I can't remember, oh, Athena1, while we have Moderators, I also think it's so valuable/important for all of us to try to keep it sane if possible. When I read a post that says "chemo=foolish" I don't know whether to scream, or cry. Really try to use the ignore button, but when something causes a "fuss" I get curious. thanks again.
-
Caerus, you can get gluten free 'prepared' mac and cheese at the health food store. It is really good, too.
-
How do they make macaroni without gluten in it???
otter
-
Otter asked my question
I've tried brown rice pasta, will not describe what I thought of it. Also tried Quinoa/corn pasta - and maybe I didn't cook it correctly??? I know others have raved about the quinoa/corn pasta. I found it, well, kinda "gritty." -
Thanks Caerus!
Sure does seem to get nutty around here in the middle of the night...
-
Barbra I saw the gluten free mac and cheese yesterday. Let me know how it tastes. I bought gluten free all purpose flour, noodles, bread mix for the bread machine. I will be having fun all next week experimenting.
-
I'm going to drag out my bread machine! I never thought of using gluten free flour in there, cuz the books about it never used it!!! And I don't want to use Xantham gum- finding out it was some kind of fermented gungus ( ?) made me think I'd rather not have it - flat, dense bread is fine with me
