Water Pitcher with Fruit Infuser - YUM

Hello -

My mom bought this product on a lark from QVC the other day. It's a water pitcher that comes w/a clear, colander like middle tube (infuser) that you can put ANY fruits or veggies in to flavor the water.

The water was delicious! It was the 1st time I felt it was super easy to drink all my water for the day. I can't wait to put fresh watermelon in the pitcher. My mom cut up red grapes and cucumber
in the infuser last night.

I was given a recipe book, with recipes using different herbs, fruit and veggies to sprucevup my water. This sounds like it would be perfect. I will pass on any ones that are tasty.

I love the design but am leary to purchase it. There are only certain plastics (acrylics) that are safe to drink from. In order for the fruit to infuse it would need to sit for awhile. I wonder if there is something like this in glass. Their are studies showing whales getting BC from the plastic bottles etc... basically garbage floating in the ocean. is this the safe plastic? Is it BPA free?

Hi carcharm:

I looked at the packaging for this product and the acrylic is rated an "04". I haven't done alot of research on it, but according to this link http://www.parentdish.com/2008/04/11/how-to-tell-if-your-plastic-bottle-is-safe/, it appears to be a safe number.

Yes, glass would be better. I had not thought about it - I was just so thrilled to see something like this.
