Sciatica?

Options

Hi there,

Did anyone else's sciatica get worse after treatment?  I have had mild sciatica for about 9 years, nothing too bad.  About a month ago, it flared up after I drove in heels.  (That always used to set it off.)  Ever since then, it comes and goes.  Not very painful, but just enough to freak me out.  So even though it feels like sciatica and it was triggered by the same thing that used to always trigger it,  I worry.  (Thanks a lot, BC!)  Has anyone experienced something like this getting worse after treatment, due to lower estrogen etc.  I'm 37, but I don't think my body knows that anymore.  *sigh*

Yes!  I've been on Arimidex for 2 yrs now, but recently my bone pain has gotten worse and I've begun getting sciatica.  Painful!  I mentioned it to my oncologist at my 6-month visit last week and she ordered a bone scan.  Completely freaked me out!  But results are in and no cancer, thank goodness!

I've heard of women without BC getting it, so maybe we'd get it anyway or maybe we're more prone to it??  I don't know, but count me in the sciatica club.   Frown

    Sweetbean,

The onc nurse told me the other day that cancer & it's treatment makes you old. :)

I had said it was sad to be old at 43, after she told me the pain in my back is arthritis. I guess we are destined to be old women who look young! I hope you feel better soon!

    sweetbean,

I had the same problem before cancer. It does make us worry when we develop pain.  I have been dealing with a lot of hip & back pain.  I worry it could me more, but the pain level comes & goes.  I've been using a lot of icepacks especially during bad weather.  It seems to be helping to manage it & I don't have to take as much pain meds.

Hoping its nother serious for you. NJ

Thanks, everyone!  It has pretty much resolved at this point.  It got a little irritated today, but I think it had something to do with the fact that I walked 5 miles to  my yoga class, did my yoga class, and then walked 5 miles home.  :)  (I'm training for the Avon Walk!)  Anyway,  it honestly felt a lot better after I read your posts.  I think I was making myself nuts!  Thank you!
