Wow, an hour of reading to catch up, and I can't remember what I wanted to say...so I'll just say
Hi, Beachettes!
Oh, it looks like I am responsible for the top of the page, so I am editing to show sunset on Oahu February 2011.
-
Hi gals, I recognize a lot of names on this topic. I do not live by a beach but we have lakes and pretty sunrise and sunsets in TX.
-
mjb - Welcome to the beach my friend!!!!! Love the photos you posted of TX!!
Here's a pair of flip flops to wear! I'm sure that others will also share some beach attire with you. So sink your toes in the warm sand, put on some shades, take a deep breath, and just reeeeelax while you're here! ((hugs))
-
I love the pic of a city still asleep (Miami Beach)...WAKE UP!!!!!
Lisa, I was wondering if you got down to the pools left behind after the tide. What are they called??? Oh yah, tidal pools!
-
WELCOME!!
The pix of Miami Beach are awesome....I really need to beach....maybe I should take the bus!!!
-

-
more from those tidepools on a different day
-
OOOOHH!!
-
Lisa .. what tidepools were you at?
-
Welcome mjb!!!! No need to be near an actual beach..... there's usually someone who is close enough to post genuine photos, but beach-appreciators are ALWAYS welcome. It's the appreciation that we all share.
I'm so grateful to our own Roadiefaith for sharing our traditional pair of welcome flip-flops.
Beachies. Some of you may be aware of the awful chapter in my family..... I posted some specifics on the prayer thread. The long story short, is that my older brother Dan was in a fire in his home at the beginning of the week. He's been in ICU the whole week in an induced coma. We found out yesterday, when his cell phone was able to be retrieved from the rubble and they were able to reach out to my parents.
In any case, in the past 24 hours he has made some huge progress, being brought out of the coma, and now all the tubing removed. HE JUST CALLED ME ON THE PHONE!!!!! Hardly 24 hours ago I learned of all this.
Life really can change on a dime -- in so many variations.
Anyhow, tho I could hardly grasp anything he was attempting to say, the one recurring phrase was, "thank you" which he said in every phrase. The only thing I could really catch.
To say things have been upside down is an understatement.
So to come in....... find lovely photos and new friends in amidst the ol time friends is the greatest pick-me-up possible.
I leave tomorrow for Vegas.... so as usual I will be a little less splashing in your midst.
xx00xx00xx00xx
BTW: it was a barking dog that saved his life.
-

Bren, they were the tidepools out at Cabrillo..

Bren

faith; iso glad your brother is doing so well; and praying for your DD as well...beautiful pics, ladies;..i AGAIN didn't make it to the beach. a major upheavel fo packimg, unpacking in our house. things that never got done since i moved im, thank you, bc...now, im pooped, so will be sprnding tommorrow in bed, im sure. got to see the grands today!!! its' been 6 wks. Fischer did a lot of acting out when we got there..he's po'd we haven't been around; he doesn't know it wasn't OUR choice..he calmed dowen, and was "Naba"s boy, in an hour or so.. Fin is always SO happy to see us.. not talking yet; but her expression is like "oh, your'e here.." then, she jumps on my walker, and her Zeida pushes her round and round..makes her laugh.......so, that beats the beach..im just sitting here enjoying yours, instead... faith road,, hope all is going well after your surgery... 3jays
-
Thanks for all the healing words from my beach friends! I love seeing all the photos.
amyjo - I've never seen photos of those beaches, I've heard of them. California is sure a beautiful place.
SoCal - what an adorable little girl...Granddaughter? You captured a beautiful moment!
Here are some photos from my trip up north to the the Gunflint Trail bordering Minnesota/Canada. specifically these are from Grand Marias; the northern most tip of MN, a place called Artists Point. The body of water is Lake Superior.
It's much rockier up there...not quite as much "beach" sand, but still quite a beautiful place.
This last one shows the Minnesota side of the Gunflint Lake in the foreground, and the Canada side in the distance. A fire had gone through there the year before, this photo shows some of the damage.
-
faithroad, love the colors in the trees, neat places..
yes it is my granddaughter..both my grandson and
she were born after BC..never thought I would see them..
3jays, hope you can get some rest..
amyjo, I am loving big sur too,, thanks for the pix..
faithie, don't you ever stand still for even a couple of weeks?
I need a pep pill just to read your journeys
-
LOVE the pictures and the show-n-tell in process!!!!
Not that we need any sort of excuse to have a party around here, we should be passing the cake for our TinyFishy's birthday as well, but I just saw on Facebook that our dear beachie-gal from a number of pages ago is having a birthday TODAY!!!
It's Elaine's birthday. Better known as EWB!!!!!!
Let's all have cake and then plenty of ice cream as well!!!!
Happy Birthday, Elaine. If you happen to be reading along periodically, splash thru for a few minutes & let us know how you're doing these days -- otherwise we will be forced to eat all this cake on your behalf. .

I am thru airport security and at my gate for my leg to Chicago. Then a couple hours lay-over before the big flight to Vegas.
Lisa. I had an entire 8 days 'off' between my last enormous circuit of concerts and this one. LOL. That's a lovely length to re-coop. When I get home from this one I have another almost-a-week before anything public.
I had a lady say, "When I goes I goes hard and when I sleeps I sleeps deep." Always thought I should have a t-shirt with that sentiment on it.
Roadiegirl. I have taken a couple of canoe trips thru the boundary waters that you've pictured. That is some gorgous scenery for sure!!! The stories I could tell you about those trips. LOL. I was a supervisor for teen agers. Ye gads.
I wanted to let you know that I just spoke with my brother's ICU nurse and he says that Dan continues to head in the right direction. He was allowed some 'solid-ish' food this morning and I know that was a big deal. YEAH!!!!!!
Better go to my gate!
I'll play a couple of slot machines. If I get the big payout I'm renting a beach side villa and bringing ALL of you to some crystal clear ocean, with swaying palms and sugar white sand for miles.
See you on the flip side!!!!
Hope everyone's having a glorious Sunday.

I play the slots at the Las Vegas airport when I just sit and wait...I always
seem to win a little there at the nickle slots. I hate casinos because they
are so dark and noisy, but at the airport it is light and airy...
-
Huh, until Faithroads picture, I never thought of our northern beaches as well, beaches. This one is about 6 miles north of where I live now, when we went to visit my son one Thanksgiving at his university;
-
That was a spot on Blind River where I did the "stop the car, stop the car!!!!" cry until poor DH pulled over!!
