Your stage 4 sisters need your help - Avastin
Hey Gals,
I'm writing to draw attention to the recent decision by the FDA to pull their approval of the drug, Avastin, for use in metastatic breast cancer. We in the metastatic community don't have enough numbers to be heard and we really need your help. Someday, if you have a recurrence, this drug may not be available in the US. Interestingly, Europe's equivalent to the FDA has looked at the same data on Avastin and has not only upheld its decision to approve Avastin, it has expanded the usage (in combination with other chemotherapies).
Please consider contacting your congressional representatives and urge them to keep Avastin available for breast cancer patients.
Thank you so much and please PM me if you have any questions. There is a lot more to the Avastin story than the headlines would imply. Some patients are getting great benefit, especially the triple negative gals, who have run out of other options and Avastin is all they have left. Avastin is a safe drug, used extensively for other cancers.
