Visiting another beach in Fiji (I forgot)

-
Look at that water...so clear.
I have kids running around my yard with supersoakers. Getting some fun in before all that rain I see on the radar gets here.
-
I can always send the plane to pick you up girls.
-
So, I was wondering if I could BE more incompetent. DH is the one who usually grills things. I've grilled once, maybe twice, with DS turning the grill on for me. Not that it's complicated; I've just never done it. So I have these kids over. I figure they are sick of pizza...one commented when they were planning this get together that another should bring his dad to make hot dogs. So I took that to mean that kid at least would like hot dogs. So we go to the grocery store and get a bunch of hot dogs and rolls and deli potato salad and macaroni salad and cole slaw - (they've hardly eaten any of it...guess we're having potato salad, macaroni salad, and cole slaw all weekend...) So, in the delightful rain and with some thunder for good measure, I went out to grill the hot dogs - after I had boiled them out of fear of undercooking them and giving the kids listeria (ocd much?). The back burner runs hotter than the front - I learned that. Dogs in the back were a little over cooked. Then the next batch I made, I overcooked them all! If it hadn't been raining, I would have been more attentive, but I don't like being rained on so I went inside for a few minutes at a time.
So one more thing to add to my collection of things I suck at - grilling hot dogs...
So I'm having some pink dessert... It's okay though. Pink dessert is making it seem funny to me now.

-
Chris sorry but i couldn't stop laughing after I read your post.
Boiling the hot dogs first is hysterically funny.
I love crispy hotdogs.
You deserve more than 1 portion of pink dessert. Maybe I follow you.......
HUGS
-
Well Chris I love dead hot dogs and hamburgers and I don't think you suck at it...hate the boiling kind, only on the grill or the spinny thing..
yea for me done my 14 days on xeloda now the 7 days off, looking forward to that, (so is my butt) sorry...looking forward to no nausea......
have a wonderful weekend all!!!
-
And to you too, Blondie. Take it easy and enjoy being un-nauseous.
-
Yay for the 7 days off! Hope you feel great and can enjoy them!
I finished off a half a bigger bottle of white zin that I started last weekend. Still feeling the effects. Joined in in a Nerf war in the basement with the kids. Probably shouldn't have done it, but I am still 16 emotionally, so I probably fit right in. Was huffing and puffing though running around gathering ammo. Not 16 physically. Maybe when the kids are a little older I can hang out with them without it being weird... I feel like I'm intruding - but they seemed ok with it. It was getting late and they were starting to leave so it might have been ok for me to join in.
I just hope the effect of this wine helps keep me from having anxiety later. I tend to have anxiety problems after I interact with people... sucks. But I still have a pretty good buzz so maybe I'll be okay.
Boys come home tomorrow. All the headway I made in trying to straighten up this place will be gone tomorrow... Maybe I'll get some more dessert so I won't care...

-
Sandy...Enjoy your week off.
I wish we could be on a beach right now.
Have a nice weekend All.
(((HUGS)))
-
thanks guys the nausea is still around have officially been off 24 hours so maybe that will do it. I agree Shiela the beach would be heaven about now.....
Chris I get the huffing and puffing, I have this making memories thing these days, the boys are 17 and Michael doesn't want to be around me so he is at the daughters probably for the summer (10 minutes away) and George is here but wishes he wasn't is bored. The problem is they don't have friends they stay in the house all the time and the only people the talk to is the family, unless they are playing bb.
Have a wonderful weekend...

Yeah - my kids spend a lot of time alone. DD does text friends, but doesn't see them very often - except for recently with that one group of boys. She likes them because they aren't catty like the girls and they can be funny and clever. DS has only a few friends and they are mostly girls so when the girls get together, often they do girly things and don't invite him. His best friend's parents are divorced and he stays some days at one house and other days at the other and oftentimes visits with other family - cousins, etc. so he is often not around to hang around with. Must make more of an effort to schedule things with him. So DS sits in front of the computer looking at YouTube videos that people have made or watching tv or playing video games - rotting his brain...
I hope George can find someone he can hang out with a bit - someone from baseball maybe? (((((((Sandy))))))))) Hope the nausea goes away!
Hope everyone is enjoying the gorgeous day! ((((((TOL)))))))
-
Thanks Chris, nope still here...Michael the other twin came home but out with my oldest son (36) he didn't have friends either, so he knows how it feels but eventually got them, the boys are just different, apparently it is my fault my son said it is cause I never gave them bounderies....don't ya love people that talk about things when they have never been there....eye opening!!!
Anyway.....it is hot here, what about there?
-
Are you still trying to win? You can't win with these people. Damned if you do; damned if you don't. Of course everything is the mother's fault... Blah!
Guess what we're having for supper tonight! Hot dogs! And potato salad and macaroni salad and cole slaw... Surprise! lol
So DD went to a graduation party today. At the party a few of the kids that were here yesterday asked if they could come over to shoot "fireworks." The kind that sit on the ground and shoot things a little ways in the air - not the kind that go way up - those are illegal here. They wanted to do them yesterday, but it rained. So we say okay and then next thing you know - the kid who first asked isn't even coming... Now DD is scrounging for friends to come over since only one of the kids who said he was interested actually came. Figures.
I was inside today, but there was a nice breeze so the house wasn't too hot. I was tired - didn't sleep well last night so I didn't feel like doing anything. And I was doing laundry - camp clothes came home today. Dirty tshirts, socks, towels, etc. Had to stop since kids were supposed to be coming over and if they wanted to go downstairs after "fireworks," I didn't want to have laundry going. My louvered doors I spent forever staining don't muffle the noise at all. Then again, if they watched a movie, they'd be playing it so loud, they wouldn't hear the washer/dryer. I don't know how they can stand to listen to it that loud. Yesterday I kept thinking I was hearing thunder - then I realized it was actually the movie they were watching - The Losers - action film so lots of thunder -sounding explosions.
-
Beautiful day today, nice breeze, went to some yard sales then DH looked at my back tire which was almost flat. So, we went home hopped in the other car and did a few more yard sales. Went to the bank to see what I was doing wrong when I tried to make a transfer, I told her what I did and she said it should of worked. Anyways, we got that straighted out. Had my hair done came home and puttered around the yard and doing some watering.
((((((((((EVERYONE)))))))))))
-
Phew - sounds like a busy, enjoyable day. Glad you got your banking straightened out. Hope you get your tire fixed okay.
A few kids are here - the one boy and a couple girls. Hope he isn't too uncomfortable being the only boy - he's always been shy. But these are all nice kids, so he should be okay. DH is helping DD start a fire in the fire pit thingy. Then I guess they will move on to the "fireworks." They started in the driveway with bang snaps - or some such thing you throw at the ground and it pops leaving little pieces of paper all over the place. lol
-
I think it went okay. They shot off all the "fireworks." Funny line of the night - when DD's friend, held out her long fork toward my DD and said, "Marshmallow me." I thought that was funny.
Looks like another nice day today. Hope everyone enjoys it.
Hope the weather is nice on the west coast too!
((((((((TOL)))))))))

Holy crap. This had better be fluid retention and I'd better be having a period soon and lose some water. I've gained 8 pounds in 2 weeks. I didn't eat THAT much. WTH?
-
I hear you chris

I gained but I really ate everything in my path..
-
The salt and nitrates in the hot dogs probably didn't help. Maybe I need to lay off the pink dessert... lol
Twigs and berries for me from now on.... Better wash those strawberries and blueberries I bought the other day before they get yucky.
-
Hi Ladies,
I am back from vaca and missed you all. It was hard for me to post because the connections SUCK!!! No cell phones either. Boy were my kids happy about that one!
Hope you are all doing well.
Linda
-

I'm so happy you are back. I really missed you Linda.
HUGS
-
Well Linda you were missed hope you have a good time
Chris no I am your you didn't gain 8 lbs in 2 weeks
where is everybody!!!
-
This past week has been great for those on vacation.
Last night for supper we had fishcakes and my doctored up baked beans. I think I ate to many beans. Felt blotted and crampy in my intestines. Had a bit of the monta zuma revenge, took some pepto bismol and took a nap. I feel alittle better.
Back to work tomorrow, I hope the week goes by fast. On hot days my feet and hands get a little puffy, salt doesn't help either.
((((TOL))))
-
Glad you're back, Linda!
Hope you are all better, Deb. Hate digestive problems.
Gonna be a hot one today - house is really heating up already.
Found the extended warranty paperwork for our tv and saw that it expires this week, so I had the guy come to check out our tv while it's still under warranty. Picture had been a little dark - changed the lcd bulb (older technology) and it was still dark. Turned up the brightness and it was better, but I figure there was something wrong that was eventually going to stop working completely and then we'd have do spend mucho bucks to buy a new tv. Guy is going to order a part and see if that fixes it. Hope it does. I don't want to have to buy a new tv. They are SO expensive! And you kind of have to buy one bigger than you otherwise would in order to get reasonable picture height. Annoying.
Harry Potter movie coming out this week. Not sure when we're going to go. DD's friend wants to go to the midnight opening, but DD figures she'll fall asleep. Plus, I don't see all the parents wanting to have to pick their kids up at 3am so I'm not sure any of them will be going. And the ones who can drive can't because of the 11pm curfew. I understand why it exists, but I find it a pain because kids want to hang with their friends until midnight which isn't too unreasonable... And I'm getting old and don't want to have to pick up my licensed children at midnight anymore when they could drive themselves.
Stay cool! ((((((((TOL))))))))
-
Good for you Chris, for finding the warranty info the week before it expired instead of the week after!!
Kids always want to see the midnight show, tough with that curfew!
AC is on, yay! Already did my walk this morning beofre things really heated up!
-
AC is on here too.
I'm very chubby

I really need a 5 miles walk every day to get in shape.
Meanwhile I'm enjoying the food.
I hope everybody is nice & cool.
-
Thank God the AC man put a new unit in!! YAY for AC!!!
-
Lol you guys are too funny....
Deb glad you checked in!!
-
Just got our power back. Not fun in this heat. I hope it stays on!
Hope you are all cool!
-
Congrats to Sandy on soon to becoming a grandma again!!
