Happy Birthday Beth and Happy Canada Day to all the canucks!
My LE is much the same as both of you have described. It's kind of always there, but doesn't ever seem to get any worse, except around my period I seem to notice it more- fluid retention I'm thinking. I don't really even do the therapy cause it just doesn't really seem to make much difference for me. I only had the SNB, but I think my TRAM surgery created a lot of scar tissue on that side in my underarm area- so I think that's the main cause of the LE for me.
-
Beth R - so glad you are enjoying dragonboating. How often do you practice? If you are racing with BC survivors you may be up against a team called "Against the Wind" a division of the Phila. Flying Phoenix team. They are the gals that are training the team I am on. My team only competes in the Phila. Festival on 10/1 open to anyone who puts a team together (amateurs).
Rachel - Sounds like schnerbil could come anytime. So happy for you, motherhood is a wonderful thing.
Happy 4th to all! Have a safe weekend!
-
Hi ladies,
Hope all had a good fourth of July weekend.
Summer is here for most of us..except Rachel as her winter approaches. But in her case a new life will soon be here..
It seems that Michelle is responding well to her chemo and moving on with her life..
Hugs to all,
Francine
-
Michelle...so glad for you. I hope this chemo journey kicks the crap out of those nasty little cells!!
Wishing you all the best!
Chris
-
Michelle: I am glad you are doing well. I don't pop in as much as I should anymore and just learned of your recent dx. My prayers are with you and your lovely family.

Baby shower for my future granddaughter was today. What a beautiful day! Family and friends celebrating a new addition....Sophia Lee.
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!
-
Chris,
Thats the type of news we love to hear.
I remember the photos of their wedding with you wearing the wig.
My how things have changed for the better in two years.
There is nothing better than being a grandparent ..and especially having a granddaughter. Mine will be ten ..What a sweetheart..
Hugs,
Francine
Isn't Rachel due at the same time?
-
I am having my baby shower this weekend. The Turnip is due on 21 August - not sure whether little Sophia will beat him into the world! Last night I went to the breast feeding workshop. It was a bit sad to feel I only have the one breast that will work, but the midwife was very encouraging and said it could well be that one will be enough. I think Tanasha has found it okay with just one side.
Michelle has updated her blog. Michelle, you continue to be in my thoughts and I'm so proud of you for how you are facing your present reality.
-
HI,
Rachel ..Enjoy your baby shower. You deserve this happiness.Yes I remember when Tanasha talked about nursing with her one breast. You gals are so terrific.
I also have good news. I went to my PS and he began to fill my breast.a little bit at a time .. I had this mastectomy over three months ago but due to the necrosis the PS was not sure if he could proceed with fills. I am so relieved .
Hugs from very hot NYC.

i haven't posted in forever but i always check back in here to see how everyone is doing. i'm thrown a little bit back into fear mode after finding out one of us has had a recurrence. i pray that all of us are eventually healed and able to get back to living our lives. as i told my oncologist, i think i now have a healthy amount of fear, especially for a 2-time survivor (hodgkins at age 15, BC at age 31. my fear no longer consumes me but little things will trigger it... for example, my coworker's mother in law who has hours or days left of life because of BC.
the good news is that my oncologist and a second opinion have both given me their blessing to go off the tamoxifen after 2.5 years to attempt to have a second baby. i just hit 2 years on tamoxifen so the middle mark is coming soon. at this point in my "recovery", i want to get back to living. please pray for me that i'm able to have 1 more child ...that's all i want. and if you could, please pray that it will be a girl.
-
Reeney - Prayers to you
rachel - enjoy you baby shower!
-
Hi all! Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts. I got my port yesterday, which was more of an ordeal than I expected. You all made it seem so easy! Well, all of my problems with it happened before, anyway. I'm so thirsty all the time, fasting was terrible. I had to go UP to surgery in a wheelchair, but I felt fine after the procedure. This chemo is still much easier than the chemo we endured, and I still have almost all of my hair. I walked two miles this morning, and we're leaving for North Carolina tonight. I hope you're all having a great summer! Chris, how exciting about your grandchild coming, and I sure can't wait to see Rachel's turnip! The dragon boating seems like so much fun. I hope I get to do that next summer! It's kind of expensive though, isn't it? We're on a spiral of spending lots of money we don't have. It's worrisome, because I'm usually so controlled about that. I have to let it go, let Ken figure it out.
-
HI ladies,
Reeney...I too wish you luck in having another baby.
Michelle..so nice to keep us informed. You know that you have a rather large cheering section on this board. Glad all turned out fine yesterday and that you are tolerating your chemo okay..Enjoy NC
Hugs,
Francine

Hi All,
What a beautiful day in DC today!!!! a couple of nice days, then we're back to humidity as per the weather man. I'm enjoying it while I can.
Michelle - you continue to inspire me with your awsome outlook and ability to enjoy as much as you can! Sorry to hear about the port issues, but it's in and I'm glad to hear your hair is still intact. I hope it stays that way.
Patti - Our dragon boat team will be in Philly on Oct. 1 so maybe we'll see you. We're GoPink!DC.
Rachel - Enjoy your baby shower! You deserve it!
Chris - still happy to hear any news about your new grand daughter - Sophia is a beautiful name!
Reeney - my prayers to you as well!
All - I hope you all have a great weekend!
My best!
Beth
-
Hi everyone!
Michelle, so glad to hear that this chemo isn't as hard as the first time. I hope you continue to excell on it, and get to keep all of your hair! You are so brave and handling this so well. Please let me know if you ever need anything, I know we are all here and willing to help you!
Rachel - have a wonderful baby shower. Space Turnip's touchdown is getting closer and closer! It is so very exciting.
Hi Francine, Hi Pickle, Hi Reeny, Hi Bethr, Hi Jan, Hi Chris, and all others I may have missed in the last week or so.
Reeny - great news about trying for a baby, I hope it works for you! Will say prayers (and think "girl girl girl"!)
Glad your fills are going well Francine. Won't it be nice to have a chest again??
I start IV iron infusions next week, which means back to the chemo chair (ugh). I have been so down and tired and dizzy though, so I am really hoping this iron gives me a proverbial kick in the a$$ and gets me up and moving again!
I hope everyone is doing well, and enjoying life. Stay cool if you're in the area of this massive heat wave - it has been miserable!
-
Beth - My team is definitely going to be there. We are with the Phila Flying Phoenix tent but competing as the Cancer Support Community. We will have to PM and exchange cell phone numbers and info so we can be sure to to meet up.
Michelle - sorry you had trouble with your port and that you are going through this again, but glad the chemo is not as draining this time around. You can join the team I am on there is no charge but they do want team members to try to fundraise for the Cancer Support Community organization. To continue the program they must recoup their costs. If you are interested and want to do it next year you must attend 3 or 4/of 8-10 indoor training sessions near City Line Ave. Then in May we have 2/month river trainings on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month until the race in October. Have fun in NC
-
Reeney...I, too, will pray for another child for you. We all deserve to be granted our hearts desires for enduring what we have! PINK>>>PINK>>>PINK!
Francine...hope the fills continue to go well. I would think having them filled slowly would be more comfortable! Glad things are going well for you.
Michelle...hate to picture you having to go through chemo again. I am relieved to hear that this cocktail is treating you much kinder than what we had in the past. I hated losing my hair, but it is funny how when you look back on it, it doesn't seem as dramatic as it was. I wore a wig/wrap from the end of March until the first week in October...just 6 months! At the time it felt like forever.. Hang in there. Enjoy your trip and focus on having a great time with your family!!
Rachel...Sophia is due Aug. 26th....the race is on!! I hope you have a great shower...baby stuff is just so cute!! I just love all the goodies.... Hope you are feeling great, only 1 month to go!!
Glad to see others stopping in every now and then...it is nice to hear how everyone is doing!
Off to bed...we had shower and then Dorney Park Monday and then left for beach for 4 days. Came back tonight at 5:30 and Dominic's Little League Team was honored at our Phillies farm team game...had to be there at 6:30! Run, run, run.....not complaining though ...lol
)
Take care,
Chris

Hi ladies,
Chris..You sound so happy and as usual you say such nice things to all. Yes I too enjoy being busy and running around as long as it does not include visiting doctors. But after all I don't mind going to see my doctors as long as they are just checkups.
My granddaughter. age 9 and a half is coming over and we will take her to the mall shopping..Yes this kind of pink is just so sweet.
Michelle..keep up the good attitude and remember we are all here for you.Stay strong.
Janine- good luck with your iron infusions. I have been getting b12 shots in the chemo room for a while as well as Zometa twice a year. What's funny is that it does not bother me being there.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Many hugs ,
Francine
-
hI Ladies,
Quiet once again.
I am sure all are enjoying their summer( except for Rachel in her winter)
It has been real hot throughout most of the country. Definitely beats the cold..
I am feeling good and will go for my second fill next week.
Hugs,
Francine
-
Francine...I picture you at the doc's office askiing for another refill...make it a double! Maybe you could come up with a nice cocktail name for your refills....Sex on the Beach, Malibu Bay Breeze, or better yet Pain iin the Ass!!
-
Chris,
Very cute.I will ask my doctor for a refill next Tuesday..I do like Sex on The Beach..mighty strong drink but probably not that appropriate to name my fill . I guess Pain in the Ass is probably better. Truthfully I am looking forward to getting a new breast. Kind of flat now for a bathing suit..
Chris..hope you are enjoying your summer..I know you are looking forward to the end of August and the birth of Sophia.
Hugs,
Francine
-
Thank you EVERYONE for your posts, but especially Michelle. Am definitely thinking of you as well as praying for you.
-
Hello fellow Warriors,
Just popping by to say Hello...miss you all.
Michelle...hugs of support
Chris and Rachel...waiting for news...it's almost August! So excited for you both.
I haven't gone back to read everything & get caught up but I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying summer. The weather here hasn't been great but it's beautiful today. One sunny day makes up for a lot of cooler rainy days.
Love and Hugs to all
