Llamas and Alpacas are coming over to mow my little pasture for me. If we get along some may stay as foster friends. I think this is so amazingly cool!!!!!! Remember I am a city girl who had pet "everythings" in a little city house. I am really excited about this!

Also I just found out my poodle puppy will be coming home in a couple days, maybe Saturday or even tomorrow. I have waited for this puppy for a long time. I am still working on a name. I want a happy but not dumb sounding name like Dumbo.  I think Zeus would be a cool dogs name but not for a red standard poodle. Our Grandaughters name is Zoe and our daughter asked me not to name him Elmo, so I won't although it was tempting. :)  I have considered Zollie or Rollie. I have cats named Rudy and Daisy plus a dog named Harry. This will be a big dog. Ideas are welcome.

Harry is looking happy in his new haircut already. I am also feeling better about it myself. Thanks everybody.

    Love Ginger

Ginger - How about a french name for the puppy  .  You could Google french first names for boys.

edited to add - We have a Shitzu named YOYO s in Yoyo Ma.  In Chinese yo means friend and the ddoubleing of the name means most honored and beloved of that name.

Ginger congrats on your new dog. How about naming him Clifford? After the cartoon, Clifford the big red dog?

We are going to pick up the puppy tomorrow, Saturday, at noon. I have a vet appointment for him at 2PM. just as a precaution.

His name is still undetermined. I imagine it will come tomorrow.

We have the small crate out so he has his own home to retreat to. One of the puppy/baby gates is up, we need to put up one more.  I have explained to Harry that he has a brother coming home. Harry said, "My life is perfect, do not tamper with this perfection." I hope he enjoys his new friend who will out grow him with in this next month.

I will get some photos and put them up.

What was the name of the mythical Nordic God? The one with the red hair? Hm

I think mischievous Loki had red hair.  Don't know about Thor for sure but I always pictured him as a red head and Odin as blond.

Great name, you always have to have a shortened form, I had a mix of lab and golden and he was Quincy, Quince for short.  He remains my best dog, although Saywer was a doll too.

congrats on the puppy & have fun finding the perfect name.  it will reveal itself.

my diep went well & came home this afternoon.  the buckmeister didn't fare so well with me gone.  drove poor dh nuts.  on the way home he told me about all the bell ringing, the letting out only to have the buckster park himself in the middle of the yard at 2:00 in the morning, sniffing, and pondering as only a frantic papillon can do. then he would go in his crate & 'sleep' for  a bit, then up on the bed between dh legs, until dh moved or breathed or thought about moving, then 'whoose' back to ringing the bloody bell.  pretty soon i was begging him to stop his narrative as it was making me laugh-ouch-laugh-ouch

Ginger; my first dog was a poodle, and of course, my first love!!! my dad, didn't agree.. he would get between the top sheet, and bottom and "#2" leave him a surprise!!!CAN you imagine  I SWEAR it's true..they truly hated each other...

they're a great breed, the standards are such good watchdogs... i think the "LOKI" idea was great; as they really can be such funny dogs, with their "dancing" etc... i can't wait to see and hear about him!!!!      3jays

My puppy Stewie has been here since Saturday. He is 9 weeks old now and is an adorable big red puff ball. Today he figured out how to unplug lamps. He also stole a long squeeky dog toy snake away from our 4 year old dog. He taught us more about all the things we need to put up, now. He is a busy boy after being very mellow the first two days. He will begin puppy class on Sunday at 12:30 PM. So will I!

Please post a pic of Stewie.  He will learn about electrical cords.  My lst Silky, Sydney, used to like to chew on cords....one day I heard a yip and he came running to me and I could not figure out what happened to him.  Later I found a cord chewed thru and also noticed that after that, he never chewed on them again and only then did I put two and two together.  Guess I am lucky he didn't electrocute himself.

Harley fell in the pond at my Dad's.....didn't see it, but when he came to the door to be let in, he was all wet and it was not raining out.

Marybe, be glad Harley is not like a mutt I used to have.  He could not get near any body of water except a bath tub without going for a swim.  He was only 30 or 35 lbs. so my guess is tat he probably had some beagle blood.

forgot to mention when i came home i got safely padded in the chair before dh let the krackern out of the crate.  he came streaking over to me, sniffed my hand & just melted like he had lost all of his muscles..sort of slithered up onto my lap, rolled over, began washing my face & peeing like old faithful..finally relaxed i guess.  i asked dh if that was my pillow or his.  he said his, so i just said 'ok'

so good to be home.bucky does love his mummy.  oh, did notice all the cords from the blinds appear to have the little covers gone from the ends of the strings.   it has been a very long time since bucky chewed up anything other than his own toys.  think i can let this one slide.

I can't see the pics....just a red X.    Edited to write, Never mind.  I see them and Wow, they both look like dolls and I mean both literally and figuratively....like actual dolls sitting on a shelf in a store.  How did you get them to sit so still?

You pets can be your good companion. After a year having a pet cat, I'm contented about it. My pet cat is so lovable and she do loves playing all the time which makes me to be away from boredom.

My two, Emma and Sophie are all stretched out in front of fans, I am sharing Sophie's.  As we all know "All things belong to pets", they just allow us to use them.  Stewie and grandchild are beautiful, they will be great playmates.  Karen

    How did I pick Stewie?

LOL  My Grandfathers name was Harry Stewart. My 4yr old poodle mix rescue is named Harry, my new puppy is named Stewart, thus Stewie.  :) I imagine in some families my naming practices are weird but it feels nice to me.

My goodness ... your grandchild and puppy are gorgeous!  They do look like a doll and a stuffed dog.  My sister's dog (my avatar)_ when seated, staring at you, with little pink tongue sticking out she looks just like a stuff plush toy.

Karen ... you right - our animal companions only loan us their stuff - my cat, Mr. Oliver, has taken to sitting on my computer chair.
