Anyone with IBC do Reconstruction?

Hi friends,

I have decided to do reconstruction because I have a bad scar line on the BC side. I tried to get just a scar revision but that didn't work out so now I am going to do the DIEP.  I was wondering if anyone with IBC-TN do reconstruction?  Particularly DIEP?  I am wondering how your check-ups go now? Right now I just have physical exam & chest x-rary by both my med-onco & my breast specialist.

    I haven't had reconsturction yet and don't know for sure rather or not I want to.  I'm quite confortable with myself but maybe would be happier if I did.  I had an appt with the PS in May but canceled it as I decided that I didn't want to have to think about the possibility of maybe doing elective surgery over the summer.  Our winters are long and hard here and I want to enjoy every day of the summer I can - so once autumn hits I'll be looking into recon again seriusly and then make my decision.  I don't know rather or not I'm even a candidate as I have Lymphedema issues.  Will see.

    I'm not TN - ER+.

    I was happy with the way I was but I keep having infections & cellulitus from rads damaging my scar. Just want to be done & go on with my life if that is possible.  NJ

    I've been very lucky with not getting any sort of infection since I started Chemo Aug 25, 09.  Has really surprised me as I normally got a couple/several sinus infections a year and every cold that goes around but nothing since state of A/C.  I burned very bad with rads -entire area opened up an 'wept' for weeks  - really surprised that it didn't infect either as I'm allergic to sulfa so sulfadene/silvadene was not an option to use on it.
