Leaking Implant

I had my exchange May 2010 and received a silicone implant.  Now the Doctor is sending me for an MRI to see if the implant is leaking.  The side with the implant feels and looks different but I can't recall a blow to the area that would cause a leakage.  My cat does sometimes lay on my chest and kneads but not very hard so I think that wouldn't be the cause. (I would think the implant should be stronger than that).  Has anyone had problems with implants.  Had to have recplacement?  If so, was the operation just as hard on you as the original exchange?  Should I go with a saline implant?

    Shelly, how unfortunate your implant is leaking! I haven't had an implant replaced, but perhaps someone else here has. Since this is the Breast Prosthesis and Reconstruction Alternatives forum, I think you would receive more responses if you reposted your question over in the Breast Reconstruction forum. Lots of info there about implant replacement. My best to you, and I hope your implant exchange goes smoothly.
