ELEVATED PHOSPHATE LEVELS??

Options

So the nurse calls from the oncologist's office and says first of all, he doesn't want you to worry. Yeah, ok. Anyone care to share how to do that? Says my phosphate levels were elevated on my blood tests and says needs repeat labs. If they are still elevated, they want to do a bone scan again. But please don't worry as he is just being cautious. I'm thankful for that. Just had bone scan in December as I had aches and pains in neck and back. It only came back with arthritis in the neck. Ok, so should I be worried or someone please tell me to relaxSurprised  I was just starting to feel normal again!!!!

Hi Kelly, I think you should relax.......it seems that your doc is on top of whatever is going on and he doesn't seem to be too worried so why should you.

OK, Dr's office called and after repeating bloodwork, they are sending me for bonescan in the morning. I know I can't change anything. "What is" is. I just wanted them to call and say that everything came back normal on the repeat bloodtest.

    Kelly,

I've been through that since diagnosis. It goes up and down for me. I've had the nuclear bone scan, showed nothing. I had the liver scan, showed nothing. Since that could be an indicator that it has gone to either bone or liver (elevated alp), and both tests were clean the onco told me to be on the safe side he would send me to a gastro and a bone Dr for them to both do tests. Both sets of tests at each specialist came up clean. That was last year. Still, at my 3 month checkups that alp continues to be elevated. The onco said he sees that several times a week in various patients and quite honestly does not understand why. Some patients have elevated alp routinely but have no other problems and no recurrence. They said it may be one of those things that I may have had all my life, without it causing other problems, and would never have known without the wonderful 3 month routine blood-work that specifically checks that due to our cancer. Hope you have the same weird fluke and all turns out well Smile

Well, not sure what to think or do???? My oncologist called me on Sunday morning. Yes, I said a Sunday morning with my 11 year old daughter in the car. He said that after two radiologists comparing my bone scan from December to the bone scan of recent, one of them thinks they see two itty bitty spots-one in my left hip and one in my sternum. He said he would like to wait to do a CT and PET scan in late Aug before my next 3 month check up. He says he thinks it's an advantange for us to wait. Any thoughts or words of wisdom on this? I really am about to freak out.

The thought of not being here to raise my Daughter is just more than I can bear. This pit in my stomach is unexplainable. I'm not afraid to die but just want to be here for my Daughter. I have been a good person and my faith and closeness with the Lord is good.  Please let me know what any of you would do or if you have waited this long before.

Hey Kell, steady on there........I know you want to drop your bundle but right now there is no need.  Your onc says possible itty bitty spots......he did not say definite itty bitty spots which means to me that they are not sure what they are seeing if anything just yet.  Regardless of what the out come is in August when you have the CT scan, know that those possible itty bitty spots may well have disappeared as they could easily be a false positive.
