Why oinly one religion gets it's own section?

I think it's a good idea to just start a Mormon thread in the Spiritual Forum or Growing Friendships forum. Either place would be a good way to meet others of the same religion.
Having lived in Southern Utah for a few years, it might be interesting to have a discussion about the FLDS.

I am only starting to visit the forum more regularly and yes, I am Muslim. I have been on other topic forums which were predominantely nonMuslim and was not made to feel very welcome. I do not know what is kicks or anyone else's problem with Muslims but I am now wondering if I should just restrict myself to the Muslim ladies section.
The lady who posted that being Muslim is not just a religion is correct. It is also a cultural thing and a way of life. It is very hard for some of my sisters to talk freely and openly about such a sensitive and personal thing as breast cancer and if having a separate section will help them to overcome this and integrate into the general forum this is good. My oncologist is a Muslim lady and having had other nonMuslim consultants I can say how much more I can open up and talk with her about issues which we can both relate to.
This is a disappointing thread.
Revkat your post is uncalled for and I have reported it. I do not wish to come here for conflict or stress so I say Salam to everyone and wish them all well. And people wonder why we don't wish to integrate more.

shaah2468:
I hope that you will look at the other Forums for suggestions about care and SE's, etc. It was the reason I joined two years after diagnosis and at the same time I was diagnosed as Stage IV.
I wish you continued good health.

Kicks,
I think there are a lot of cultural aspects to the Mormon religion as well, and the same can be said of Catholicism, Protestant faiths, and Judaism. But truly, LDS has a definite "way of life" that is sometimes different from the rest of the USA. I am glad you are requesting a forum for other LDS members to post and get LDS information and perspectives on BC.
I am not LDS, and have nothing against any religion asking for a forum. I didn't find your post offensive in the slightest, and sorry you've had to endure criticism for asking a simple question.
Stop your hating, ladies!! Let's have some respect for other beliefs and cultural systems.
If you give respect to one, you must respect the rest!!!

shaah -- I'm glad to see you here. I was very concerned some months ago when certain things were said to one Muslim poster that convinced her (and perhaps her Muslim sisters) to stay away.
Do want to make something clear -- Revkat's post was meant purely as sarcasm (as she indicated). In fact, it was her way of condemning those who inflict their bigotry and hatred on to anyone whose beliefs or world views are different from their own.
Sending you hugs!

Marianna - nobody is being hateful towards Kicks. Very kindly several people have suggested that she start a thread in the Prayer and Spiritualism forum as the other religions have done. Here we are 11 days later and a thread still has not been started. Kicks was also told that she does not need permission to start a "thread" to just do it. I do not see BCO as discriminating towards any subject or any religion but that is how her OP came across.
Shaah - glad to also see you here responding from your own personal point of view about the Muslim forum being a cultural based forum and not strictly a religious forum. Please continue posting whereever you want on this board!

It now seems as if Kicks is not as actively concerned with connecting specifically with Mormons (as jancie said, no thread has been started on that topic,) but she has chosen instead to connect with other ladies having IBC, and has begun her own thread in the IBC forum, and that's cool. We can fit in in more than just one place, can't we? Seeing as how she has moved on, it's not really neccessary for anyone else to take up her cause, or rally against it either. Case closed.

Elimar - I couldn't agree more!

I agree with Janice. I do not find it the least bit offensive and am in support of whatever supports my BC sisters - whatever religion or culture that may be. If you want to start something diffierent - than advocate for what you want without trying to change something that is working for other people.
