A pretty humorous LE moment
OK so I am leaving the cancer center yesterday and a woman in the elevator says, "My friend wants to start making those sleeves."
( I had on my old ratty silverwave bi-lat since it was so damp my new sleeve didn't dry.)
So I said, oh that's great, does she have lymphedema?
She looked at me like I was crazy.
She said no, she is just making them because they are trendy!!!!

Maybe this forum should be renamed "Lymphedema - The Trendsetters"......

OMG, we're trendy! Makes it all worthwhile, huh.

I was at a State Park today in sleeve and glove and a little boy around 7 or 8 asked if my arm was artificial. I said "no, see these are my fingers". Said he, "I know those are real fingers but is your arm real"? Could not figure that out. Out of the mouths of babes.
-
Becky that is hilarious.
I was wondering how a sleeve that is so hot in summer could be a trandsetting thing, then I remembered how some people can wear and do wear killer high heeled shoes and thought, yeah, maybe there are people doing it
-
Great story
I'm still waiting for the chance to say "This is a sleeve that keeps my bionic arm together. Piss me off and I'll hurt you with it
Seriously only one friend has asked me "what did you do to your arm, Carpal Tunnel?"
-
I get so weary of these people who just don't get it about LE.
:So why the sleeeve?
- It stops my arms from swelling.
:But your arm doesn't look swollen to me??
- No, that's because it's working
And sometimes that other stupid person is me... did i really have LE, did i imagine it all, have i had a miraculous cure? No,. duh it's because the sleeve is W-o-r-k-i-n-g...
I almost had that magical opportunity last week Lago: "So as an ice-breeaker, tell us one strange but true thing about yourself and one thing that's bizarre but not true". I should have said: If I take off this strap my boob falls off, if I take off that strap my arm falls off.. sorry to admit I chickened out and talked about swimming with dolphins and riding on elephants instead. .
As for the freckle-research idea, after a full five months of wearing, I can categorically prove that the mediven sleeves do indeed reduce the incidence of freckles. If I could post pictures, I would show you... if i could work out how to photo both my hands at once - toe-controlled camera maybe?

Hymil you're too funny. I do have a tripod and my camera does have a timer setting. I'm sure you have a timer setting too. As far as tripods this one is very portable and clings to almost any pole:
