PBS science documentary on genomics

I’m a producer working on a science documentary for PBS on personalized medicine and genomics.  One story we hope to tell is how someone with the  BRAC1 or 2 genetic mutation is opting to use PGD (preimplantation genetic diagnosis) and IVF to rule out the gene for the next generation.

We would love to find someone willing to share her story and allow us to follow her journey through the process of egg extraction and embryo analysis.  Or, if that has already happened, we may be able to reenact some parts of this.

If you are interested or may know of someone, please have them post a reply to me and we will figure out a way to connect.

Many thanks, Julie Crawford

    Hi Julie,

Your documentary about BRCA and  IVF sounds very interesting (I'm not BRCA+, just interested).

I just wonder if you have contacted the Moderators about your request to find interviewees for your documentary?  That is generally what is done here -- but it isn't always easy to find the rules, or find out how to contact the Moderators.

This is their "member profile" page:

    http://community.breastcancer.org/member/56097/profile

Toward the upper right of that page, click on "Send member a Private Message" -- let the Moderators know what you are looking for in terms of interviewees, and the Mods will usually post your info in their own section, called something like "Interview Opportunities."  You might ask the Mods to also post in this BRCA+ section. I think women will be far more likely to respond to you if they see a Moderator-approved invitation.

    Best of luck!

    Ann

    I Julie,

I tested positive for BRAC1 in February and am in the process of planning a prophylactic mastectomy and oophorectomy.  I looking for someone to help me do a documentary.  Please email me or call me.

    Cheers,

    Anna Lewis
