My hair started growing back before I finished abraxine.  I have a nice dark coverage all over my head.  Some grey mixed in too. I love to run my had over my head and feel the new growth.  I have been slick headed since January.

Is it ok to have your hair colored when it is just growing back or will it fall out again?  Do you have to watch products hair salons use?   How soon after grows or how long before should cut har? Hair is growing in grey and is still short about 2 or 3" long.  It is very thick and growing good since using Alra shampoo and lotion.  I have on a hat/hair wig in photo.  Thanks,

I did weekly Taxol and my hair started growing around week 6. I colored mine right after finishing chemo. My onco said I could. It never fell out again.

Has anyone experienced their hair shedding after it grew back? Mine hasn't shed at all. I'm wondering when it will start the normal hair shedding process. Hopefully it's not all at once! I won't let my hairdresser thin my hair at all, even if it's unruly!!'

kittycat My hair hasn't seem to shed at all either but at one point I did lose some eyelashes and my eyebrows have thinned again but that could be from Anastrozole. I'm finishing my 4th month on that. I hope it isn't but it could be.

As mentioned before my onc said I could color my hair as soon as I wanted. I colored it professionally at 12 weeks when I decided to go topless.

I looked at the Nioxin I am using, thought I was using 2 but am actually using 4.  At the point I started it, I still had chemically treated hair.  I also picked up the scalp recovery serum.  My head was itching so much that I thought it might help, and it has.  When I purchase the system again, I'll get 2.

Question, my hair seems to be growing on top of my head faster than on the sides. I have this weird mohawk thing going, albeit 1/8th? of an inch long.  Has this happened to anyone else?  I just started tamox this week, so that shouldn't be impacting it yet.

Nope I had the Friar Tuck… just the opposite. I think the mohawk sounds like a cooler look. Tongue out

Christine: I've got some "eyebrow stubble" too!
My boss said the other day, "weird that you lost your hair but not your eyebrows" (I wear scarves to work) and I said, "um...nope....lost them too, these are just drawn in..."  I think he was a little embarrassed, but I didn't let it bother me, and I told him it was totally fine, that I took it as a compliment to my eyebrow drawing ability!

SuperSally: I have the mohawk think going too...I wonder if it is b/c I wear a headcovering 24/7. Scarf at work, hat at home, baseball caps on weekends, hats to sleep in....
Maybe the sides and back are being "smushed" into no hair growth??  It's a stretch, I know... :)

Tomorrow I will be 8 wks PFC. Can't even believe it. I almost look like GI Jane, but  with no upper body strength  ha ha ha :)
I will try to post an updated pic soon.

As of now, almost 3 weeks PFC, my hair seems to be growing (or not) about the same all around. Got that peachy fuzz look going on.  Today I am home alone since DH is working and DS won't be home till this evening.  I am going around the house without anything on my head.  It's the first time, and it feels kind of weird, even tho I am all by myself.

My eyebrows are sad, good thing it looks like they are coming back as quick as falling out.  My wig has bangs, and I usually have big sun glasses on when I wear my ball caps.  I have a collection of different colored Life is Good caps, fun for the summer.  So not having to draw on my brows. Such a low blow that we loose the brows after chemo.  Did I mention I have to shave my legs every day again.

DivineMrsM- I have been topless in my house since the begining.  My DH and young sons are ok with this.  I used to take off my shoes first when I came in the house, now the wig or hat is the first thing to go!

My hair growth seems slow, oh well with hot flashes minimal hair is good.

Hey Lago !!!  Are you getting anxious for your exchange??   I have a chemo buddy here that went a different route with a TRAM on the 8th & still on pain meds.  She let a doc do the surgery that we had experience with.......not good and in a city this size only got one opinion.  She is wishing now she had listened.

I really don't think she will make to our Herceptin infusion tomorrow.  But I am taking Jeffrey with me since it doesn't take long and he is all into anything medical !!  This should be interesting but has been cleared with his mom.  After tomorrow I only have two (triple doses) left to do.....7/14 and 8/4.........then I am done.   Cannot wait to get this port out of me.  Saw BS Mon. and she said we could take it out in the office (a 10 min. procedure)  as soon as Onco Dr says no longer needed.

Let us know how your exchange goes.......how long will you be in the hospital?  Good luck, will keep you in my thoughts & prayers.  You're almost done !!  with the exception of 5yrs. of pills.

Norma I'm not anxious at all. Just pissed I didn't get everything done around the house I wanted to. Oh well. I will be going home the same day. This is just the exchange with fat grafting. Nothing as intense as BMX or TRAM. It's only a 3 hour surgery. I never took any pain meds or even tylenol after the BMX. There might be a chance I could bypass pain meds again although I do hear the areas whre the fat is removed could be painful. I'm not worried. I've already scheduled my hair to be cut/dyed again a week from Saturday.

I still have one more day for house cleaning! Thanks and it s 5 years minus 4 months left of pills Tongue out

thedivinemrsm  Be free!  My house was the place where I could let it all go and I think it helped everyone get used to my not having any hair.  I too took the wig off the minute I got home and my shoes and now that I am doing rads my shirt also (ha...but when no kids around)

carberry, better keep your shirt on!  I have two boys 13 and 14, I have had BMX with now fully expanded TEs, hate to think how my boys seeing me without a shirt might effect them, LOL.

Has anyone not lost their hair?   I've had 4 A+C treatments and still have my hair.  Starting 4  Taxol treatments next week and just curious.  Fatigue has been my only side effect so far.

Lago............you go girlfriend.  Just remember anything you don't get done before will still be waiting there when you feel better.  Some of my "junk" had to wait a good nine months and yes, it was still waiting for me.  Of course, being my stubborn self, I wouldn't let anyone help me.

Take care & don't over do at first.  You are braver than me !!!

LOL Lago - I know!! I know!! I'm the same and then if it's not done and you're stuck in bed, the stress of knowing everything that needs to get done will drive you mental.  Just rest after ok?

It's nice to be a newbie on this thread. 3 wks now post TCH. Fuzzy head- growing on sides and back of head a bit. Is there a thread for Nioxin? Don't know what it does r/t hair growth specifically and when I can use it?

Thanks for answering my newbie questions. (Sure feels great to be thinking of hair coming back rather than my next TC treatment - will still have H for several months but it's not a big deal!)

I go bald at home- have teenagers- their friends have gotten used to it too. Outside usually hat or scarf. Places where I don't want to talk about cancer or feel self conscious- wig is what I wear.

I want to go topless asap...even w/ a crew cut Laughing. I will probably get as many stares now as when I sometimes go out to a store briefly w/ my big old bald head!!

    Thanks for any advice..

    Lisa

LisaGH - you're looking good!  I was self conscious when I first went topless but it was so much more comfortable especially with the warmer weather arriving. My hair now looks like I did it on purpose (or at least I think so anyway LOL).

Lago I did the same thing before all my surgeries and each chemo infusion. I totally understand wanting to get everything done before such events. Then your mind is uncluttered to go into this and heal. Plus keeping busy is a good thing just don't make yourself crazy. Funny thing about housework it's never done.

Housework does get done. The problem is you have to keep doing it. Living in the city is even worse. Dust 1 hour after you dusted and vacuumed… but I do love the city.

OH yeah I remember the dust was awful even when I live on Long Island. Not as bad here for some reason. But the mud is crazy hard to get off anything.

Hi everyone, I'm 3 weeks PFC so I don't expect much yet. I've got dark peach fuzz starting everywhere except the front. How long before that begins to grow a bit? It's so nice to be talking about hair instead of SEs for a change...

Letlet - have you snipped the ends at all?  Mine was like that too and once I snipped the ends off, it really started to fill in quickly.  My chemo finished Feb 2 so we have similar time frames

    Lago.....

I cheated & looked at your hair link..........you have such a beautiful smile.  Hair or no hair doesn't changed what your face shows.   Actually I like your hair on the shorter side.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow.
