New here. Headed for bone scan this afternoon.
I'm supposed to leave in a few minutes for a bone scan, and am of course concerned about it. I've been "NED" for about 6 months now, but having persistent pain in my rib cage area opposite side of bc. They've told me from the beginning that I have a 60% chance of recurrence, and that it's most likely going to happen in the first 1-2 years, but I really just didn't expect it to happen so soon. Maybe it'll turn out to be nothing, right? Guess I'll know in the next day or two. Ugh!
Anyway, I'm looking forward to hanging out here now and then and getting to know you!

Good luck! I hope it is just something totally unrelated to cancer.

MoniqueG,
Why do you have a 60% chance of return if you had chemo and rads???
-
carcharm, from what I understand, it's because it was stage 3, and Inflammatory BC, and because the tumor was 12cm and had broken through to the skin. They were pretty shocked that I wasn't stage 4 at first diagnosis.

Hi Monique,
I think that it is really great that you are NED. You still are until they tell you otherwise! Still, I know how anxious you must be and I hope it all turns out well. Keep us posted! I just had a bone scan today due to a "hotspot" on a recent MRI. The good news is that I am clear for the time being. One thing that I learned along the way is that even bone scans are definitive so even if it comes back with negative news, push to understand why. It may not be the whole story. Apparently, lots of things light up on bone scans like old injuries and arthritis, etc.
Best of luck! Beau

Bone scan turned out to be clear!! I was SO shocked. Guess I had myself convinced that 3 weeks of pain = cancer. Ugh - I hate that. Well, at least now I don't have to worry about this pain and know that my bones look great. Woohoo!!!

Yay Monique!!!! Great news!! It's always a comfort when we here the words 'all clear'.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

I am so happy for you, Monique! It is such a great feeling knowing that the pain you have to deal with is something not related to cancer. Then you can move on and try to get the pain under control without that fear going on in the back of your head. Its like being released and getting back your freedom again. That is what I feel like when I have had scans and screening done and it comes back all clear. In fact, I hope that on Monday I get that same feeling again when I get my biopsi results. Have a wonderful weekend as you celebrate your good news!
