Hard breast lump after lumpectomy

Hello,

I had been seen about a month or so ago for a bleeding single nipple duct that started several months after a lumpectomy. Confirmed as blood but was left to wait for a month more and had a ultra sound where they thought i might have a papilloma?? Thankfully the bleeding finally stopped after a few months from when it first started. Was told I didnt need to come back unless bleeding started again. Well here I am another month out after the bleeding stopped and my breast has become very hard and sore with a odd shaped lump to the opposite area of the same breast and not by my scar at all. I am not to sure what to do or what this is. Any suggestions or ideas as to what this might be? Is this part of the healing after so long? I think it has been around 8 months since my lumpectomy.

Thank you in advance.

Sissy .. I have no idea what it could be ... I just hope you can get some answers soon.

I'm 4 years out from lumpectomy and my breast is pretty lumpy, the doctor said it was normal scar tissue.  I haven't had any bleeding.  But at 8 months out, I would think you would have been pretty well healed up.  I would check with the doctor again .. and if you can't get any answers, perhaps a second opinion would be a good idea.

    Thinking of you,

    Bren

Thank you very much for the reply. It is very hard to know when to call or not call. I had never had any issues before on breast exams until last year after I had skin cancer. I am still being checked every 3 months with mammograms hopeing to go to 6 months and am due soon for my yearly on the other breast (since things didn't seem to be any hurry last year/). Last years mammogram showed calcifacations so had those checked pathology showed atypia/atypical. When I went for wire guided they found another area, when checked pathology showed was just hyperplasia. Went back & had lumpectomy for atypia/atypical area. Things can change as mine had from the year before...I just feel so confused sometimes and don't want to bother anyone :/

Thank you very much for the support. I really appreciate it.

What type of doctor are you seeing? Is it a general practioner or general surgeon?  You want to be seen by a doctor or surgeon that specializes in breast health.  Try to find a doctor connected with a NCI.

Any changes to your breast tissue need to be checked out. I would request an appointment asap. If you are not happy with the treatment you are receiving , get a second or third opinion.
