Finally Some Newspaper Coverage

Our local newspaper had an almost full page article about a woman 20+ years out from surgery coming down with lymphedema.  She tore some skin on her arm and developed lymphedema.

She shared how medical professionals told her she no longer had to be careful with blood pressure, injections, etc.  My mother, who is 14 years out, was recently told the same thing at her primary care physician's office.

I am thankful there is finally some attention being given to this subject.  No one mentioned lymphedema to me until after my surgery and the removal of 16 negative nodes.  I have mild truncal lymphedema.

yeah...it's like the dirty little secret of breast cancer, isn't it?  I don't really understand why, either.

Glad to hear it was covered in your newspaper!  You might want to consider writing a letter to the editor sharing your experience with LE...I'm big on letter writing.  Laughing

FLtricia, this is very cheery news! (Not for the woman interviewed, obviously!Undecided) Thanks for telling us about it -- always so grateful when anyone will get the news out.

I'll second Suzybelle's suggestion of a letter to the editor thanking them for covering it and briefly sharing what you posted here.

Hope you're finding good help with your LE. Be well!
