-
kittykat WOW! your hair grew in sooooo fast and you have so much of it. I am at 6 months and look more like your February pic. plus mine is very curly ; (
-
Ok then....here I am today, my last chemo was Feb 2nd. Guess I will change my avatar pic because it does look like I have more hair - just no bangs yet
-
marjie, Your hair looks so thick and great color too!
-
Great hair Marjie. I'm 3 weeks out and have fuzz.....
-
Yep - had the fuzz!! I agree that my hair is thick - it's like a carpet on my head, hope I can get some length happening soon. Sheesh we're never happy are we??
-
It's a definite.....only beautiful women get breast cancer!!!!!!! Maybe its just new found beauty with hairstyles that we would never have tried before.
-
Kitkat you drinking miricle grow? You look awesome.
Marjie you have one of those faces that make me smile everytime I see yours. I think the short hair looks fabulous on you.
So today I bumped into one of my old profs from grad school. Actually he spotted me… said wow you changed your hair. He then said something else about it so I gave him the "not by choice". He of course said "enough said" then asked if I did the chemo, surgery etc. He said "you look great considering all you've been through."
He was given the nickname "asshole" by the undergrads. Hmmmm This is supposed to be an educated man. Too funny. I'm not upset by this just think it's funny knowing who it's coming from. Guess he doesn't like short hair or doesn't realize I'm 23 years older.
-
marjie - looks great! You'll have bangs soon enough! Mine are sort of growing, but I prefer to keep them back in either a headband or a small clip anyhow.
-
I am 2 weeks post-chemo and have white fuzz. Was a blonde (mostly), and my wig is platinum blonde so am hoping I can pull off the white look, but not for a long time. SIGH.
Also, I had asked about Nioxin. Didn't realize it came in so many versions...the one I got from my stylist is #3 system, which looks like the "normal/thinning" version! I looked at the website (cant' remember who posted, but thanks) and now I am not sure WHAT system I should be using. I may have to call the shop owner-she goes to my church-and clarify. She told me yesterday she would get me refills at cost when I need them; she felt bad that I had already paid the retail sale price. The girls rent the chairs and get commission on the products they sell. Is everyone using System 2?
-
Iam 2 weeks PFC and also have the white fuzz..lots in the back..moderate mat on the sides..and hardly anything on top..I never thought I'd be so impatient with the hair regrowth..I think if I saw actual hair and not fuzz, I would feel better..I may pick up Nioxin too!
-
Huskerkkc, I've ordered the system 2 from Amazon, I had read on someone else's post that is what system they went with. So I thought I would give it a try.
-
i thikn I am using system 5 now cause i color my hair now i was using 2.
marjie your hair is growing in great! I agree short hair suits you.
-
I am using System 8 in the Nioxin. I had DH examine my head with a flashlight tonight and I definitely have teeny, tiny short hairs growing - I'm 10 days PFC. Yipee!
Marjie - there is a definitely difference between your old avatar and your new hair!
KittyKat - WOW! I can't wait until I have that much hair!
You ladies all look fantastic!
-
kittycat
your growth is awesome. What's your secret? Please share!

Hey girls. My hair started growing back at the end of September when I was on Taxol. My sister did dose dense Taxol and hers didn't grow back right away. However, she has this huge mane of hair (she's 2 years post chemo and it's probably shoulder length now). I haven't seen her since Christmas. I have insanely curly hair. It takes me forever to straighten it, so I wash it every other day. Plus there's a ton of it so it doesn't get limp by the 2nd day. I don't use Nioxin or any special products. My hairdresser got me to use the Onesta products. They aren't cheap, but I use them every other day so they are lasting a while. I also use Moroccan Oil and pomade called Previse. My sister sent me the pomade and it really helps it when styling it. I didn't start wearing my hair in public until mid April. Then it got too bulky under the wig. I loved my wigs though. Never a bad hair day! LOL! I had the back trimmed up or "stacked" as they call it. It makes it easier to style.
Marjie, you look really pretty with short hair. I think it's true that only beautiful women get bc. LOL! -
Thanks kittycat. I am very envious of your hair.
-
Thanks kittycat. I am very envious of your hair.

I use the #2 kit of the Nioxin....I am 2 1/2 weeks PFC and my hair is white-ish/brown peach fuzz. I actually have a hairline that is visible so I consider that progress. But it's still very short. My hair was never fast growing prior to chemo. So not sure how long its gonna take to grow to a length I will be comfortable to wear without the wig. My criteria is that it has to look feminine "enough" without making me look like I had to get my head shaved because I was a convict or something.
-
Hi ladies - I read often, but post very infrequently. Marjie - you look great - I want my hair to look just like yours. I am about 14 wks PFC. My hair is growing in thick, soft, and GRAY/WHITE! I colored it before, and I am ready to go topless, but not ready to be gray. When can I color it and what can I use? Also, it is about 1" and mostly lays flat except where it decides to stick up and there seem to be cowlicks all over my head. Any recommended styling products out there? Thanks for the help!
-
Thanks for posting all the pics. Everyone looks great!
I am going to try and colour my hair today. Since my "new" hair...the colour seems to be strange. I did have a colour rinse about 2 months ago and bought a colour yesterday. I don't have too much grey but the colour is weird.
I haven't used the Nioxin. For those in Canada..where did you buy it? I looked at it in one hairdressers but it was so expensive. I did buy some shampoo with biotin from whole foods...not sure if it is making a difference! -
just noticed a dark shaddow where I had lost part of my eyebrows!
I will be good to have eyebrows back since it will be a long time before I have bangs.
-
So it's not my imagination: I am 6 weeks into 12 weekly Taxol infusions, and I think my hair is starting to grow. This can happen during Taxol?
-
Yes it can. Mine is growing and I'm not done with taxol yet. One more treatment left. I was told by my onc nurse that it could start growing while on taxol.
