It looks like herceptin and chemo decreses the chance of recurrence to zero :)

    sylwiamolik, I just want to say that your post made my day! I didnt know about these studies. However small and early they may be, they are a first stab at answering the question of how much difference Herceptin makes for really small node neg tumors. Every time I think of that graph with the 100% no recurrence blue line, I smile!

    I'm happy to see these results too. The DFS for lymph node negative with TCH in BCIRG 006 was around 10% and but the women there generally would have had larger tumors (about half 60% of the women had tumors larger than 2 cm but there was no data in the presentation for the size spread in the node negative women in the study). So guessed that maybe my recurrence risk would be about half of that or 5%.

    Also about 23% of the HER2+ cancers with no chemo in the MD Anderson study of women with node negative tumors less than 1 cm had recurrences so chemo and Herceptin cutting that to a quarter or around 5 or 6% seemed a reasonable guess. 

    If the small studies you linked to are correct, then it is so close to 0% and that's a wonderful thought. I wasn't worried before because even 5% is small - but 0 is better!

    Hi, What  would be my recurrence rate then? I had stage 1, no nodes, ,2ml tumor and a mastecomy. No treatment, Can you tell me what is my recurrence rate?
