    wanted to jump in and give you all an update. some blood work showed problems with my thyroid; and guess what one of the synmptoms is: hair thinnning.. you'd think i'd be upset; but im hoping when they get it right agsin, my hair will fill out. in the meantime, minoxidol it is!     3jays

    Hello, all you beautiful "hair-growing-back" ladies!  This has been a FUN thread to read! 

    Marjie, I had to laugh--I have one more TC to go (just had number 5 this week).  My DH and I had a discussion today, where I asked him what COLOR the fuzz is that's on the top of my head.  He told me it's not really hair, but more like the attached photo...  Laughing  At least I HOPE the photo comes through...

    Edited to delete photo...going to try it again!

    These little guys went from this to FULL coverage in a matter of less than two weeks...guessing it's going to take me a tad bit longer after reading all your posts...  Wink

    My husband keeps saying I have white fuzz..I keep telling him it's platinum blonde( I had dark brown hair pre chemo)

    Kaseymomto2boys I too have white fuzz on my face, ears, neck, back. My last chemo was Jan 18th! I did shave my neck and so far has not come back. I can't see myself shaving my face though. I see my onc in July so I will ask her when. I was concerned that this is what happens after meno/chemopause. Nice to know I won't be a peach forever.

    I do have one recommendation:  find an awesome hair stylist.  I found a gal who gives me exactly what I want to the T.  She helped me through the bad stages and gave me a non-cancer-looking haircut by the seven month mark.  It is incredible what a few shapes will do for the overall look!

    As for the peach fuzz, everyone says it goes away.  Ever taken a look at post-meno women?  Most of them have down.  I think it's part of chemo, but also part of post-meno life.  They make buffs that can remove it, Vermont Country Store I think has one for legs.  To me, it's an age giveaway....

    ltothek  I agree a lot of my friends in this age group, along with me, have the fuzzy face.  Mostly just on the sides, very fine, but really shows up in the summer sun.

    Bdavis  I loved your pic, I like to see the faces of the people we connect with, it really helps.  My DD will be home on July 4th weekend and I hope she will be able to help me take some pics and post them.

    Hi Ladies,

    This is my hair growth update.

    7 months of waiting and I'm finally wigless and it fells soooo gooood!! :D

    I had one trim last month and since then my hair are growing like crazy lol!

    Dominika- You are so pretty.  I love your hairstyle too.  Do you have to straighten your hair or did it come back straight?  I tried to straighten mine, but it isn't quite long enough yet.

    Took hubby to breakfast this morning at the Moose Lodge and a lady that I know from church came up and asked me if I always had curly hair or if it was from the chemo?  She said she lost her hair 20 years ago and it took it about 2 years to return to normal.  But she said that to keep my chin up that it would eventually calm down.  That made me feel so good because it is so humid right now and my hair looks good until I walk outside and then it looks like I stuck my finger in a light socket.  Don't want to wish my life away but can't wait.  Need to find something to calm this mess down, the back and sides are not too bad, but it is the front and it has grown in so slow, I think once it gets some length to it and my girl can trim off the frizzy ends it will help.  I am just so happy to have bangs that I won't let her touch them.

    Marial, I LIKE the platinum blonde coloring!  My DH calls it white fuzz, too, so I guess I know where I'm going on the color now!  He keeps wanting to grab the clippers to "even things up" a bit, and I keep telling him it's got to start somewhere!  I probably should just clip it all off one more time, so when it really does start growing, I know what I'm working with... 

    At 48, I was still a natural blonde, albeit every year it got to be a bit darker blonde than I had been in my younger days, and if there was any gray in my hair, it blended in well enough that you couldn't tell.  I have LOTS of aunts, uncles, cousins, who were prematurely gray, so time will tell if that's the route my heritage takes me!  I guess this will give me an excuse to finally play around with some color, though, won't it?  And, those years I stubbornly held on to long hair???  This will give me an excuse to play with a short style, which I haven't had since I was probably 12?  Not that I'm happy about BC by any means, but it will force me to shake things up a little...  Wink

    Hi Ladies. Well, here I go again. Or, rather, here goes the hair again. My hair was growing back so nice and thick. Taxol is taking it now. Probably get my head shaved again on Tuesday. Bummer.

    charlottesmama, sorry aout hair loss againFrown.  Mine is growing back slow, you will probably catch up to me even with the Taxol.  How many treatments do you have?  How are you doing after your surgery?  I have seen a few ladies describe some hair growth towards the end of their taxol.

    charlottesmom  sorry you have to go through this again!  that just means you get to stay on this thread a little longer and talk to us ladies. now that it is finally warm in New York I am enjoying not having to deal with the hair...ha ha never thought I would say that

    Nice to see your update as I remembered your previous posts as, like you, hardly anyone (only one person actually) knows about my hair loss. I remember you said you were going to remove the wig during your holiday. Your growth looks good for 7 months.



    Ladies, I caught a glimpse on Friday's episode of The View about a hair straightening product that can be applied at home and lasts up to a month. It may have been Kerastase. May also have been mentioned on this thread previously. I haven't researched it further as I am not at that stage yet but there may be some info on The View website or Kerastase.
