Hi everyone

i finished chemo, taxol weekly x12 and herceptin the beginning of January and now herceptin alone until october. I am 31. my periods stopped the second month of chemo, and they returned two months after chemo stopped, i had two periods within 30 days of eachother which is normal like before, but htey are much lighter, last month i skipped my period all together but then this past month i got it and it would have been exactly on time had i not skipped last month, but it is very light. im so scared i wont be able to have children, i have an 18 month old baby and would love to give him a brother/sister one day, would like to start trying next spring as my onc is ok with this plan but of course im worried that my periods arent normal and my eggs are ruined! anyone have lighter periods and over time they returned to completly like normal ? does a lighter period mean im not ovulating? so confused just hoping things return to normal!

thanks for reading!

jen

    Hi Jen,

I'm also 31. My period return back to normal 3 months after my last chemo in March 11 (FEC x3 and Taxol x 9). I had a blood test last week and it show that estogen level are back to pre chemo level. All the best. Smile

I noticed my period was much lighter when it returned. My theory is that prior to chemo etc I was estrogen dominant and having periods that were actually too heavy, and now my body has been balanced by the period of time I had no estrogen at all so that I am having proper periods now.

I am 6 years older than you and my period came back lighter but fine 6 months after chemo. Fertility came back too and I am expecting my baby in 9 weeks. So I think the signs are really good for you! I wish you the best

I don't mind you asking at all! I had AC x 4 and Taxol x 12. I also had Zoladex injections during the 6 months of chemo to make sure ovaries were shut down.

I actually conceived (naturally) within 2 months of my period coming back, but it was obviously too soon and I miscarried at 3 months. I conceived again, again naturally, in late November last year, and am now almost 32 weeks pregnant and every thing looks normal: the doctors say I have the same chances of healthy baby as any other woman. Only problem will be I can only breastfeed from one side as the other side was radiated!

thanks for your good wishes! I wish you the same.
