Bonfire of the Goddesses

One tough woman-------do I like Robert Redford------never disliked any of his movies. He is so astute to everything in a movie. Helped he was yummy to look at toooo LOL. If I had to pick a favorite it would be Jeremiah Johnson. Anthony Hopkins-solid, my favorite of his was "Silence of the Lambs". Superb. Wasn't as fond of the f/u movie. The chemistry between he and Moore was not the same as Jodie Foster.
-
sas - schatzi...agree. Funny my fav Redfood movie as well...and I'm always making the mistake with calling Jamey Johnson musician (You should have seen it in color song) Jeremy Johnson, I think I've got Jeremiah Johnson on the brain. Sir Hopkins has always distinguished himself apart from others, didn't care for 2nd either. What about Brad Pitt? I know my favorite movie is A River Runs Through It and Ben Button a very close 2nd. Have you seen Sir Hopkins and Pitt innow the name leaves me, but they live in Montanna, he has 3 sons, Adian Quinn, Pitt and ?...dang it, I can't believe I can't think of it NOW!! Shoot...they say the memory is the first thing to go...LOL LOL...perhaps my fav Sir Hopkins movie, he's doen so many and all good.

I've always liked Robert Redford's movies and his looks, he's aged well too. How about Cheers and Murphy Brown, heading a little more into the 80s' but love them. I love how Candice Bergen has stayed active and portrays smart sexy middle aged women. I want to wear my wrinkles half that well when I'm her age. Partridge Family as hippies. That's funny, and my incisions still hurt to laugh. Yeah, while I'm at it, I'll throw the residual pain and weakness from surgery on the bonfire!
-
God, we watch Cheers every chance we get and yep, Murphy Brown...what an awesome show!!! Liked the fact that the spin offs from Cheers were just as funny, Fraiser especially Niles, way too FUNNY!!! :-) Have you seen King Pin with Woody?...how about John Goodman? Like him too?
-
Love John Goodman, no I haven't seen King Pin, I'll need to put it on my netflix list
-
Poor Niles--- that show brought out the best in him. He had visual skills like Skleton and Benny
For those that have netflix get the "Thin Man " series in sequence. Robert Powell and Mryna Loy. There are 5, I think. They're funny, sarcastic, shows off the late thirties and early forties well. There are martinis in almost every scene.
-
SAS I like those movies but dislike martinis intensly so can I toss mine into the bonfire?
(stand back, it's pure alcohol !)
-
Goodness no, you should pass that martini over to me!
-
OK here ya go Kate. I'll try to be careful and not spill any... ;-)
-
Shucks I missed it going by-----------kate what's your favorite tini? going out to dinner tonite and would like to try something new?
-
Sas, I would have shared with you. I'm pretty traditional. I like a chilled very very dry vodka martini with olive. I don't indulge often, but when I do, boy, it tastes so very good. Although someone made me one once with cranberry juice, fresh squeezed lime, vodka and Grand Marnier (sp?). That was pretty darn good too. Have fun tonight, you can fill us in tomorrow around the bonfire

-
What is in a Cosmo? I have heard of it but don't know what is in it.
-
oh yeah,great idea Badger
badger, have I mentioned my DS and fiance live in WI? How close I've gotten to DS's fiance's family who lives in WI?
-
kate, you haven't until now. :-) I'm in the southwest part of the state and work in Madison.
Jo, a cosmo is cranberry juice, lime juice, vodka and triple sec but you can use Grand Marnier.
I like the curl of lime-peel garnish!
-
Badger - Thanks. I am not much of a drinker but would like to join you ladies and have a virtual one.
-
Jo, we can make you an NA version with the cranberry & lime juices and some tonic water.
Still have to have a pretty garnish though.
Hey ladies, what about fireworks around the bonfire starting July 1 for Canada Day through Independence Day July 4. We'd all have to take off from work for a four-day weekend in honor of and mutual respect for our homelands.
-
Fireworks!!?? For sure! What about a keg? I have the wheelbarrel ready to bring it down to the fire. We're going to need cups and a few garbage bags. Party!!!!
-
I live in the home of beer (and cheese) so can easily lay my hands on some kegs.
One has to be dark beer and one has to be NA beer and one should be 'light' beer.
Any preferences?
-
I don't think I could take 4 days off from work but do count me in. Believe it or not, July 4th will be our 38th wedding anniversary. No big plans this year. Okay! Maybe a few fireworks.......
In Texas, we drink Red Beer - that is beer and tomato juice with a dash of salt & pepper. Or if you like it with a little kick - Beer and V8 juice.
-
congratuations in advance Jo... you can tell your DH that you still see fireworks when he kisses you LOL!
-
I love fireworks. Badger, that sounds like so much fun, I really wish we could really be doing this
-
Kmmd..but we really are all there! Just takes some imagining. Close your eyes... And then you will see the fireworks and smell the smoke! That fire is magical!
-
I love fireworks too. I hope this isn't inappropriate to share, but I told my DH that if I go first he is to arrange to have my cremains packed into a firework and shot up into the sky. I don't want one that goes BOOM, I want one that goes wheeeeeee... LOL!!
-
My little guy was due the end of July and decided to make his debut on the 4th of July! What a great day to celebrate a birthday... And an easy day to remember!
-
He was asserting his independence LOL! and he gets fireworks on his b-day every year.
-
He sure did assert his independence... And so did I! I would so much rather be down at a bonfire and enjoying fireworks on the 4th, instead of being in the damn delivery room giving birth! Now where's the kegger???!!!
-
What a posting whore I am - This is my 4,000 post. No better place than the magical bonfire thread hosted by me. You are all a great group of ladies and I want to thank all of you very much for keeping this going.
-
Okay back from dinner had a pomegrante/orangejuice/voldka----with squessed orange slice. Good, but it didn't taste like a tini-very tropical---good. Must try the original. Nonetheless, went to dinner with DS, good conversation, good food. Some of you may know or not, but my Dh died last August. So, It's our first fathers day without him.So, here's to Greg a great father and a great husband of 38 years, loving you still.
-
Sas...sorry about the loss of your DH. Thirty eight years doesn't seem like a long time when you are happy. Tomorrow is also the 31 st anniversary of my beloved dad's death. He and my mom were married for only 32 years when he passed suddenly. My DH and I are celebrating our 32 anniversary next week. I am grateful and blessed.
