i find this interesting... particularly for those who may have stalkers.....

in favor of my sanity, i found it simplest just to block people rather than argue.. no offense or anything to anyone..

anyhoo.. if someone changes their name, they are still blocked - just under a different name.. so that's cool.  thank you moderators.  perhaps that is not a new feature.

All they have to do is move to vbulletin and have volunteer moderators.  Not exactly rocket science.

This, as a newbie, is almost unbelievable to me.  what would anyone get from "claiming" they had BC?  I am not sure I understand.  It does make me wonder, when I post, if people are

I thought that those donations were to make improvements to the software and the system, and to hire additional people as moderators of the site so actions taken by the automatic software can be reviewed and either reversed or enforced in a timely manner.  I have seen evidence that both those things have happened. 

I was not aware that those who make donations are supposed to have all their posts proteced no matter what, or that moderators are expected to instantly reinstate their post.  The post in question is just over one half hour old, the reporting of it has to be even more recent. 

I believe that the public identification of reporters was stopped very quickly after it caused a whole new set of problems.

nurse-ann, if I report a post, I state that I did and why I did it. I seldom do unless it is blatantly in violation of BCO rules.

It caused a problem for the 'reporters' who were caught and didn't want anybody to know they had done it.

Those who are willing to state openly when they feel it is necessary to report a post have no problem whatsoever with it.

And, for those with multiple IDs (which is perfectly legal here), all they have to do is sign in 5 times, report and poof! I am under the impression that BCO does now have the ability to check IP addys and see if that is what is happening. Perhaps that is one of the changes that was made. That's a good thing but seems to me to put extra work on the mods. I have no problem reporting a post that I feel breaks BCO rules. Then the mods will either agree or disagree. If they disagree the post will be restored. And - I will always post that I am reporting and why I think it breaks the rules. Other people obviously don't feel that way.

I liked it when the names of the people who reported a post showed up.  I thought it was kind've interesting.  It sure did cut down on the abuse of that function.  Wish we could have that capability back.

I would never report a post without saying I had done so. I would feel very cowardly if I had done so.

I think showing who reports posts would solve a lot of problems, including the one Apple mentions.  I have always been strongly in favor of showing who has reported a post.

I agree showing who is reporting posts would solve lots of the current problems. Apple I had no idea posts on the stage 4 were being deleted, makes no sense to me.

kira, I think the deleted posts referred to were in Leprechaun's "Update" thread -- at least I hope it's not happening elsewhere in the forum.  I think much of the reporting was in fact done by Stage IV women, and if we had transparent reporting we would know that.  Full disclosure: I did report one post (and only one) in that thread because it seemed very defamatory of Leprechaun, who I do consider a friend.  Apple, I apologize if it was wrong for me to do that, and I won't do it again.

Edit: I just remembered that someone was reporting Sharon50's posts on Konakat's thread -- which was horrible, and which I wrote to the Mods about.  Can you imagine? Konakat had said Sharon would keep the Board updated, and someone reported one of Sharon's reports about Konakat, on Konakat's thread.  I believe this is why we absolutely need transparency to show who has reported a comment.
