Question about ovaries?

When I was first diagnosed I had a lumpectomy followed by radiation.  I have received 20 of the 33 treatments so far.  My RO asked me if I wanted my ovaries out on our first visit.  I went to my regular doctor who told me that she would do it if it would keep her cancer free.  Since then I had my second appointment with my RO and he said since this isn't invasive it would be to your best interest to remove them but I can't "officially" recommend it.  I just don't know.  Would removing the ovaries be overkill?   At this point I am just tired and don't want to make a quick decision so I am looking to you all for help.

I had my ovaries removed in 1997. Did not stop BC from recurring, I just had a mastectomy in March. Granted, it could have been worse, mast to my organs or been more aggressive, I don't know. I actually did not have to do chemo or rads. So maybe the ovary removal helped. I hope you make the decision that is right for you. I could not have children due to extensive endometriosis. So the ovary removal was a Godsend. I was in major pain all the time. But this may not be the case for you. The issue is estrogen and the less estrogen the better for avoiding a BC.

    Blessings to you.

This is a tricky one. You are ER+PR+ so you would think you should, but this was recommended for me not to do. In fact I just had surgery to remove my right ovary due to large cysts that we were worried about (benign, thank you!) but we kept my left in because I am still premenopausal and have slightly low bone density for my age. My onc and gyn both believed strongly to keep one in, and I take Tamoxifen to deal with the estrogen.

Don't rush too fast because you are scared; take the time to research your options and what would be based for you based on your particulars. Finish up the rads, take a little time for yourself, and then move on to this.

    Best wishes,

Thank you ladies.  I think I am going to wait for a while.  I am just too tired to make an educated decision.  The rads are burning my breast pretty bad and it's uncomfortable to painful.  Today was the first day that I really felt too tired.  TGIF!!! Thank you for the advice I do have time and I am going to wait until I get to my OBGYN in January.  I appreciate your input it was nice to see a message when I got home.  Thank you again.
