still have the lightening flash on that ribbon, still have my little ostrich I won when we played some game, I can't remember what it was. I will take a pic of it and post on FB. Still have the tag choca's DH made, and lots of jewelry from the vegas trip.

i find this interesting... particularly for those who may have stalkers.....
in favor of my sanity, i found it simplest just to block people rather than argue.. no offense or anything to anyone..
anyhoo.. if someone changes their name, they are still blocked - just under a different name.. so that's cool. thank you moderators. perhaps that is not a new feature.

All they have to do is move to vbulletin and have volunteer moderators. Not exactly rocket science.
-
claiming they are sick when they are not sick..... is SICK!!!!!!!!!
-
This, as a newbie, is almost unbelievable to me. what would anyone get from "claiming" they had BC? I am not sure I understand. It does make me wonder, when I post, if people are
"wondering" if I'm tellilng the truth...that is a very sad statement. Pat

Bumping this thread for others interested in the topic.

Hey All,
if you think that something is being missed by us, please let us know in a constructive fashion, and wle'll be sure to jump on it.
Thank you.

Yep ... the reports stopped when the reporters names were shown. That feature went away with no warning and now that everybody knows it is anonymous again we are right back where we started. Ugh ...
-
I thought that those donations were to make improvements to the software and the system, and to hire additional people as moderators of the site so actions taken by the automatic software can be reviewed and either reversed or enforced in a timely manner. I have seen evidence that both those things have happened.
I was not aware that those who make donations are supposed to have all their posts proteced no matter what, or that moderators are expected to instantly reinstate their post. The post in question is just over one half hour old, the reporting of it has to be even more recent.
I believe that the public identification of reporters was stopped very quickly after it caused a whole new set of problems.
-
What problems did it cause? The deletions stopped. I didn't see that as a problem.
-
One step forward...three steps back.
-
It's funny how people think deleting is a problem unless they are doing it or calling for others to do it. I refer to what went on a couple of days ago on the "Update" thread!
-
nurse-ann, if I report a post, I state that I did and why I did it. I seldom do unless it is blatantly in violation of BCO rules.
-
Same here. I'm not afraid of letting anyone know I've reported a post.
-
It caused a problem for the 'reporters' who were caught and didn't want anybody to know they had done it.
Those who are willing to state openly when they feel it is necessary to report a post have no problem whatsoever with it.
-
Ha .. showing ID's of who reported was the best way to stop the abuse of it! Those whose names showed up tried to claim that they were then being bullied but that is simply not true. Being asked why is not the same as bullying or reporting posts that don't qualify to be reported.
-
And, for those with multiple IDs (which is perfectly legal here), all they have to do is sign in 5 times, report and poof! I am under the impression that BCO does now have the ability to check IP addys and see if that is what is happening. Perhaps that is one of the changes that was made. That's a good thing but seems to me to put extra work on the mods. I have no problem reporting a post that I feel breaks BCO rules. Then the mods will either agree or disagree. If they disagree the post will be restored. And - I will always post that I am reporting and why I think it breaks the rules. Other people obviously don't feel that way.
-
Well I dispute the events that occurred the other night. At least two of the people complaining right now said they were deleting posts from that thread (Update). One of the two individuals posted on the thread asking others to help her go after two or three remaining posts. Then she went back and edited her "call to action" post. The poster that was deleted had at least 10 posts on that thread deleted causing the Moderators to caution people to only report posts that violated the rules. Seems like we like to do it to others but don't like when it happens to us.
-
I liked it when the names of the people who reported a post showed up. I thought it was kind've interesting. It sure did cut down on the abuse of that function. Wish we could have that capability back.

bump for the moderators to address
-
I would never report a post without saying I had done so. I would feel very cowardly if I had done so.
-
just my opinion...
i think the deleting function gets abused here and would appreciate it if people just didn't come on the stage 4 forum and delete posts. WTH?
We can do our own... thank you very much.
-
I think showing who reports posts would solve a lot of problems, including the one Apple mentions. I have always been strongly in favor of showing who has reported a post.
-
Me too.
-
I agree showing who is reporting posts would solve lots of the current problems. Apple I had no idea posts on the stage 4 were being deleted, makes no sense to me.
-
I agree with you ladies .. mods .. please bring back the function that identified the person who hits the "report" button!
Thanks,
Bren

kira, I think the deleted posts referred to were in Leprechaun's "Update" thread -- at least I hope it's not happening elsewhere in the forum. I think much of the reporting was in fact done by Stage IV women, and if we had transparent reporting we would know that. Full disclosure: I did report one post (and only one) in that thread because it seemed very defamatory of Leprechaun, who I do consider a friend. Apple, I apologize if it was wrong for me to do that, and I won't do it again.
Edit: I just remembered that someone was reporting Sharon50's posts on Konakat's thread -- which was horrible, and which I wrote to the Mods about. Can you imagine? Konakat had said Sharon would keep the Board updated, and someone reported one of Sharon's reports about Konakat, on Konakat's thread. I believe this is why we absolutely need transparency to show who has reported a comment.
-
Not only did a Stage I poster come on to a Stage IV thread to delete posts but in the thread itself she called to her friends to help her since I believe it takes 5 people to have a "community deletion". In her post, she actually told her friends what pages the posts were on to help them delete as quickly as possible. After they flew around deleting all of one Stage IV womans posts from the thread, she went back to her own post and edited it so no one could later see what she did. Now some of these same women are "belly aching" because someone deleted a post belonging to one of their friends.
