SO scared

Options

Back when I was diagnosed, a pelvic ultrasound picked up what looked like a normal ovary -- except that it wasn't, since I had a total hysterectomy in '99. Nobody was worried about it, figuring it would be scar tissue or something. Anyway, I started feeling a "stitch" (intermittently, sometimes it goes away for a good long while) in that area last December, and started a series of what's become 3 ultrasounds. The "thing" showed slight growth in the 2nd and 3rd tests, so my onco now wants me to have a laparoscopy, with a PET scan scheduled first, on Tuesday.

I am totally freaking out. My onco told me she honestly doesn't think it's a met, but wants the "thing" in a jar instead of in me. Any words of reassurance would be much appreciated.

Its best to get it out and see if it is mets or not.. Dont fret, panic ... Just wait until you get the results... Thinking of you.. Keep us posted

Well, I met with my MO today. The PET didn't pick up anything by the "thing," but did pick up an enhanced area in my lower spine. That might also be arthritis, though, so I'm going to have an MRI next week to see what's going on.

The bad news is that my tumor markers are elevated. How elevated kind of got lost in the conversation, but my MO told me that she feels certain now that, at least microscopically, there is disease circulating and I am Stage IV. So I guess I move over to that board.

I don't put much faith in those tumor markers. Mine have always been normal.  Here's hoping yours are just as secretive as mine are.  :)  It sucks waiting and waiting and waiting.
