Am I the only one who wants a bionic boob?
My surgeon warned me if I do not get an immediate implant after surgery I will 'just look deformed'. And I told her well I suppose so since you don't want to give me a vertical cut & scar like I asked you for. A pre-meeting with her recommended Plastic surgeon nurse only scared me from wanting to get any implant, so I scared her back by telling her 'if you don't have anything in metallic silver, I do not want anything'. If I were able to get a securely fitted cup, cooly futuristic, possibly hollow inside; I would not have to miss more work from longer recovery w/ implants. I would also not have to anticipate any collapses, internal infections, extra scars, ugly fake nipples and any self-deception that I have replaced my natural breast w/ a somewhat natural breast even though my nipples don't match in any real way. I am in process (w/ 6 mos more of Herceptin to go) of having to make or commission a strap on bionic breast because this is the 21st century and I believe our bodies as well as our minds should only be soaring to the highest aesthetic standards as this is what the next generation will imitate. I am curious if there are similar thoughts amongst comrades? peace, mlb

Im shocked you can be dealing with a surgeon who you so clearly don't at all get on with in any way. How disgustingly unsymathetic to say you will look deformed, isn't that just what a woman with cancer needs to hear, NOT. Either she is being spectacularly honest about her lack of skill, or she is trying to twist your arm to do things her way by making you feel you have no choice, and in either case I would be in a hurry to get a different surgeon, It's your life in her hands and sounds like she is NOT the one for you!
Don't know about wanting a bionic boob but i certainly wantr to go for a polite helpful team, a surgeon who inspires me that s/he can and will make it look as good as possible while getting all the cnacer out first time, and who will LISTEN to what i want even if it turns out to be technically impossible.
You don't need to do recon, there are lots of us out here who go flat-skinned with a boob-in-a-bra if we are uni-flat or have the choices of, two boobs in a bra, or no bra no boobs, if we are bilateral. If you can find one in shiny silver good luck to you, I'm thinking airport security will have a fit when you go through their metal detector...
though. So far the beanie-boobies are my best choice.

I would consider a strap on bionic.
I went for nothing and am very comfortable.

that's hilarious! although I'm not sure why the surgeon is pushing for an implant at the same time. My surgeon told me I HAD to wait to get the implant later - I walked around for a year and half with a "uniboob," then got the first part of the reconstruction done in December ("Frankenboob"), now I'm putting off the reduction on the other side to match ("lopsided boob").
I joked on Facebook that my new boob would be Bionic: better .... faster .... stronger!
lol
