Food and Lifestyle changes you've made since the diagnoses'
Hi everybody,
So since your dx what changes have you made to your lifestyle ie: your food and drink, alkilining your body, supplements, excercise, other complementary alternatives. Would be interesting to know how you are getting along with changing your lifestyle and what your plans are including the benefits you may have noticed.
Just for the record I have checked with my onocologist about all the changes I've listed here to which he was fine with most of my choices except he did not want me to take St Johns Wort, and Apricot Kernals, he said it was because their was a plant enzyme in the St Johns Wort that was detrimental to the chemo effectiveness, and that apricot kernals contain arsenic and why would I want to put more poisin into my system??? so I quit those two.
Supplements 3 a day evening primrose 1000mg, 2 day acai berries, 1 a day Optibac probiotics for immunity, 1 capsule of (homemade hemp oil but thats another story Rick Simpson), thats it so far not sure if I should add to this at the moment whilst still on chemo, any suggestions would be welcome.
Food Sugar has been replaced by a product called Xylobrit, salt has been replaced with Himilayan rose pink crystal salt which can be used in food and baths. I juice twice a day one glass of greens, ie: spinach, brockli, celery, wheatgrass, kurly cale, spring greens, watercress, and the second one I used fruits ie: strawberrrys, raspberrys, blueberrys, apples, pears, oranges, grapefruits, pineapple, melon any fruit jucie I make I add to organic bio-live yoghurt which helps me and with good bacteria also think its helping my immune, feel real good after drinking both juices. Replaced red meat with fish oily makerel, sardines etc, although I am still doing chemo and want to keep my red blood cells in shape so admit to having small amount of red meat just before the blood tests, after chemo no more red meat for me. Green tea is the main tea I now drink although I will have a normal cuppa every now and then. Spring water and pomegrante fruit juices are really great. Will be trying Essiac tea when I have finished chemo. If anyone has anything else to add any suggestions would be most welcome.
Complementary Medicine Once my chemo is finished I am going on three appointments one is with a herbilist, another an indian auraveydic dr and the last one is nutritionist would like to get a fully rounded view on the subject in order to make my own decisions. I am and always have been a spiritualist so have been going to spiritualist church for sometime and now attend the free healing that takes place every week, I find it a great release and once finished and outside feel really good. I practice crystal healing and so try to do a meditation everyday along with crystal placement and healing on myself. Other complementarys I would like to try Acupuncture, reflexology, any other suggestions would be great.
Exercise I have always walked so do at least 30 minutes walk a day more like and hour and 1/2 for a frequent walker, I am lucky and so grateful to live by the coast and in the woodlands I am spoilt for choice of where to go for walks. Just starting Yoga and swimming.
The main one I have noticed that has changed me is juicing it does require time and general cleaning up afterwards but it is so worth it I can feel the difference it makes to me physically just feel great afterwards. Also the Opticbac probiotics for immunity I think have got me through with good blood cell count so far.
Any other suggestions and comments are really welcome.
Sending healing hugs to all
Love and light

After diagnosis I knew I wanted to change my whole lifestyle but felt very overwhelmed as to where to start. I went to a BC group in my area who was hosting a NP to give a talk one evening. He recommended a book called Anti cancer by David Servan Schreiber. I found this book to be just what I was looking for to give me some direction as to where to start. I won't pretend that it is the total answer but it gave a very concrete easily explained way to change our lifestyle including diet, exercise and mental outlook. I highly recommend it!
