Apoptosis
Cancer is simply a condition in which the cells of the body disobey the laws which regulate how fast they are to divide. These cells begin to divide at a rapid pace, seemingly unchecked. Like rebellious children who disregard the instruction of their parent's these cells are given over to a life of anarchy and lawlessness. They can overtake the body by causing good cells to become cancerous. They compete with good cells for nutrients until at last the life forces are ebbed away. We have an amazing defense system in our bodies which is able to search out and identify foreign substances in the body, destroy them and remove them from the system. The wonderful immune system composed of T cells, B cells, macrophage, antibodies, and other warriors is a very powerful army of microscopic soldiers patrolling the internal environment of the body. These warriors work around the clock using a sophisticated communication system and powerful weaponry to annihilate unwanted offenders. Microscopes reveal that with a strong immune system, even cancer cells don't stand a chance. They would be defeated every time. For Cancer to thrive and overtake the body, the immune system must first be weakened. Only as the immune system is suppressed, can cancer spread. A true understanding of physiology helps us to understand Cancer, not as a disease, but as a symptom of an inefficient immune system. The answer to Cancer involves changing the way we eat, live and handle stress.
Everything that lives must die, and that includes the cells of the human body. Cells die either through injury, including physical damage or toxic poisoning, or through suicide. When cells kill themselves, it's called apoptosis. While the process occurs naturally during periods of growth and development, apoptosis may also be induced to destroy cancer cells. Eating a diet rich in certain foods can induce apoptosis and fight cancer. These foods include Blueberries, Carrots, Citrus fruits, Green Tea, Turmeric, Lemongrass, and Wheatgrass.
Sir McFarland Burnette who received a Nobel Prize for his work in immunology discovered that over one hundred thousand cells become cancerous in the body each day, but if the immune system is functioning normally it destroys these cancer cells.

Hi MommySpring,
You said "The answer to Cancer involves changing the way we eat, live and handle stress."
I see you're a new poster here. I'm not sure whether you have cancer yourself, or what the intention of your posts is, but I think the "answer to cancer" is infinitely more complicated than you seem to think.
Just FYI, you may want to review the site rules to make sure you're following all the rules.

I don't know if you want to quote Sir Frank McFarland Burnet on the topic of cancer. His opinion was that it would never be curable. He also vocally advocated that disabled babies be euthenised. It seems a common ploy of internet science to quote the discredited or unproven ideas of Nobel Laureates, as if all their ideas were the subject of their award winning work.
Did he really discover that "over one hundred thousand cells become cancerous in the body each day, but if the immune system is functioning normally it destroys these cancer cells." Can you point to a reference to his work in that regard? Were these ideas accepted by science?

so the cancer is my fault? I needed to eat better and have less stress??? Plllllllllllllllllleeeeeeease. There's much more to it than this simplistic explanation. I certainly do not think we know everything about cancer and there's so much more we have to learn but this is not the way to help others with a blame the victims action mentality. Let's make sure we're following accurate science be it in the natural world or the conventional world of medicine

While some of the OP may be true, the problem is that once a cancer has got to a certain size it puts mechanisms into place to stop our immune system from recognising the cancer. so the immune system can no longer fight the cancer. Athletes get ill when they train too hard. Others get ill when they have personal crises, family illness or death, financial or relationship problem, these are the things that set off illness. How do you suggest we avoid stress?
Since we on this board have already gone beyond that stage it's like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted, and then blaming us for not being vigilant enough even though a thief may have opened that door. So many factors may cause cancer that to put it all down to our lifestyle when others live less healthy lives is an insult.
I'm all for everyone having healthy diets and lifestyles and de-stressing but I'm not impressed with those who imply blame.
MommySpring, please tell us about yourself and what interest you have in BC, otherwise I can see you posts being deleted.

I really feel the need to say this, but lets not 'feed" mommyspring with the attention she seems to want and get our knickers in a twist over her posts. We all know better by now

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter Eccl. 12:13. I believe that we have been brainwashed to believe the popular opinion about what Cancer really is. I find it very disheartening that simple truth is rejected so readily. Why is that we would believe doctors who don't even know how we get Cancer, and don't know how to cure it? That's like taking your car to a mechanic who doesn't know how to fix it! ingesting poision and burning yourself only makes you worse. Keep spreading the truth Mommy!

as joy lies within said, the cancer sends out little enzymes to confuse our fighting cells and convince them that all is well. i am aware of apoptosis, what i want to know is how do we get on top of these cancer cells' and their offshoots, and retrain the tcells to recognise the enemy so to speak (sorry for the layman's terms) and retrain our cancer cells to commit suicide..and if possible, i will be onto it like a shot
...im not sure that healthy eating is enough, as many healthy women have found themselves here, and many unhealthy women havent. Are you saying that the foods you mentioned encourage apoptosis of the cancer cells?as was said earlier, the horse is already out of the gate, the cancer has multipied, spread, i believe the proccess can be reversed, i.e. spontaneous remission, (though rare), but how, is the $1,000.000.000 question.

Mommy76 and MommySpring look to be the same person - read their posts. One by Mommy76 about Apoptosis.

hey sue, just saw that mommy76 posts have all been removed by the community?...this was my first foray into the alt forum, apart from the thread we frequent, what a shame there isnt an apoptosis thread that is creditable. I would like to discuss this somewhere,..do you or joy lies within know of one?, thanks, n.

I just saw this in the news today:

Low-Carbohydrate, High-Protein Diets May Reduce Both Tumor Growth Rates and Cancer Risk
Oops! I just had half a loaf of white bread. Now I have to go and burn it off.
In many ways, I believe lifestyle factors are less about our personal choices than it is about societal forces. For example, if my daughter had to eat unhealthy cafeteria food everyday, this has to have some impact on her long-term health. If all the food you eat is packaged in toxic material, and cows are no longer fed grass, apples have pesticide residue, how can one avoid getting sick? Just some of my questions.
Anyway, a low-carbohydrate, high-protein diet seems to be one way. It has the "potential to both boost the ability of the immune system to kill cancer cells and prevent obesity, which leads to chronic inflammation and cancer."
Off to the gym to burn some carbs, glucose, whatever. Maybe I'll buy me a protein shake there.
