Aching/Uncomforable Chest Wall

I had bilateral mastectomies 4yrs ago for Dcis.  I have always had a bit of discomfort and tightness on my chest wall but over the last yr I have a feeling of soreness on the cancer side that I just can't put my finger on but can feel it in my everyday activities, it is strange I just know it is there and is anoying enough so I just can't wait to get my bra off when I am at home.  Have been to breast specialist two times over an eight month period and had ultrasound twice which is normal.  Specialist tells me my DCIS had not broken out of the duct and not in the lymph nodes so it is highly unlikely I will get a reoccurence and he thinks it is just because in that particularly side he had to go in twice as I got a haematoma on that side.  I certainly hope he is right but because I have the other side to compare and I don't have this same pain on the good side and the pain is only on the cancer side I worry myself about this.  Has anyone had a similiar problem or any suggestions.  Thanks Lozz from Australia

PS My breast surgeon wants me to go to a Pain Management Clinic.

Did you have reconstruction?  I have issues with discomfort due to my implant rubbing against my chest wall... With having to go in twice due to a hematoma, due you think there could be some nerve trauma?

I saw a Pain Mngmnt Doc last year due to unresolved pain issues more then 12 months our from my original BMX (dx'd CRPS = Complex Regional Pain Syndrome).  My pain had resolved for the most part after about 9 months of pain meds and muscle relaxers (my nerves finally had a chance to recover from all the trauma of BMX, Recon, Chemo, etc...).

I hope you find a good doctor that will listen to you and help you get to the bottom of your pain.

edited to add I just noticed your surgery was 4 years ago...Has the pain just recently developed?

Do you have dense breast tissue?  Can your BS ask for a MRI?

could you have muscle cording?  A PT who specializes in women with mast can recognize this and help you.   worth a try.

    Hi all

I am also experencing tightness and tender to the touch in my chest wall.  I only had my op 10weeks ago,and seemed to be doing well until a few days ago.I am on tamoxfen and also getting the side effects.  I keep trying different size bras but after a few hours I am most uncomfortable.

Please consider lymphadema! Look at the sites on the boards here or google it. It starts with a pain that is difficult to describe. I have truncal LE so sometimes it's like I have a little baby boob with the swelling. You need to be checked by a PT who specializes in LE to rule it out. Good luck!

It has be compounded so it does not have a name. It is mixture of 3 drugs added to a base cream. The % of the three can be adjusted to each person. It is gabaapentin/ketamine/ lidoderm  This stuff is the bomb. I like it because I put it where it hurts and it does not go through my body so I am not sleepy. I know you get Rx for just lidoderm patches too.
