Interesting article, Yazmin. I'm very intrigued by the potential connection between inflammation and cancer. I wonder how it might apply to breast cancer. I always had severe premenstrual breast tenderness/pain, and have been curious if that's the same thing as inflammation.

It's interesting that the big women's health initiative showed that women who take aspirin regularly had a lower risk of breast cancer recurrence.

This TIME article is a little old though (2004.) I wonder what studies have shown about the cancer/inflammation theory since then?

Sorry , can't open this link to read the article, but the book I am reading talks a lot about inflammation and cancer. The balance of the immune system to "clean up " rogue cancer cells and the keeping in check of inflammation to reduce the multiplication of the rogue cells. It is called Anti cancer by David Servan-Schreiber I personally don't think there is one single agent that can cure cancer. I agree with this book in that you must look at your "terrain" and try to keep things balanced

I have the anti-cancer book as well as Waking the warrior Goddess and they both talk about the inflammation and cancer connection.  I have really started to eliminate the items that inflammatory. Interestingly enough, a lot of my diet is now alkaline, so I do think that there is a link between acidic foods and inflammation.

I have eliminated sugar, dairy, and red meat.  It has been 3 weeks since the elimination of dairy and sugar and I am amazed at how after the 1st week, I didn't have the craving for sugar.  For me, that was HUGE!  I ate chocolate nightly!!  I was a big milk drinker and I now drink Almond Milk and am totally okay with the change.  Hopefully, I will be able to stick to this lifestyle.  Side note, I am losing the few pounds that I gained throughout this ordeal.  So Big Yeahs to that!
