Sandy mess just google up grosgrain blog. You should get a match. She has an old post with 30 ways to repurpose thrift sweaters. I did real simple copy of the Kate spade bee sweater from her blog. Some of the things are way out, but some are cute. Libraylil

Thanks for the warm welcome ladies!  I do have a blog and have a couple recent posts.  One that is really beautiful (in my opinion) about my husband (dated March 24th).

I called today and set up an appointment for Art Therapy at my cancer center too.  I am also working with a professional organizer to get my place in shape so I can free up my mind and space for creativity!

Blonde Lawyer..good idea to have an outlet where you are right now

I was hostage to my home for two years due to complications from

my treatments, anyhow I used that time to learn digital photography and

do geneaology. I could do it at whatever pace I wanted. This was almost

ten years ago now and digital cameras were not nearly as advanced as

they are now.(of course, there was very little help around then either).

So being creative is a good use of time and energy,. sending hugs..

    Ooops, forgot the link:  http://blonde_lawyer.blogspot.com

I am also learning digital photograph. My husband was really into it and I got a camera for my last birthday so that we could do something together.  So, it's a bit bittersweet, but I am looking forward to exploring it more.

Thanks blondelawyer, I loved your May 24 blog, also linked to your blog from mine. Writing is a lifesaver, isn't it? And sometimes when I write, if I allow the creativity to flow, I learn things I didn't know I knew. I've been so positive (and rightfully so because I've been lucky) but wasn't allowing room for fear and -- especially -- grief. Through my writing I'm at last grieving the loss of my breasts, finally kissing my boobs goodbye after five months, accepting and learning to love my slightly caved-in chest.

Thanks marybast!  I am going to keep writing...it is very therapeutic.  I also find things that I didn't realize when I write.

    Hi!
I've just found this wonderful thread. I was having my Epirubicin/Cytoxan in Jan-March and my head was completely fuzzed. All I could do was crochet, so I made myself a lot of funky hats to wear. Now I'm doing weekly taxol and my head's a lot better, so I've been writing (blogging) mostly, and making necklaces and earrings - beading. But I've found that blogging is really helping me think. And writing helps so much.... blogging is sort of weird, because it's out in the open, but only a few people read my blog. Still I don't care all that much.

Your're so creative. And I think it's important to do something you like....

Painterly - I love your paintings. I love your landscapes. My sister paints also, and when she was here in april, she was trying to get me to draw and paint again, but I wasn't quite ready. So I did a lot of beading... but I have "Drawing on the RIght Side of the Brain" and I'm going to go through it later this summer...  used to draw all the time, but it's been ages.

And SoCalLisa, I love your pictures. Some of those look like you were in the Netherlands? My husband is from there - lots of photo ops. Your flower shots are lovely. I take lots of sunsets, although I haven't in a while... I have to charge the camera!  I've become lazy and have taken a lot of stuff with my iPhone.

I have a bamboo drawing pad - you attach it to the computer and use a special pen to draw. There's aprogram that comes with it, called art rage, and you can use a photo or other image to draw from, even copy from and select colors. It's not quite like painting, but it is fun and if you've not got space and don't feel like creating a mess, it can be an alternative. I'll see if I can post some pics..... I'll collect some links to my stuff and post them here in a bit.

I was working on a dissertation in mass communication when I was diagnosed (I'm 56, but have always wanted to finish my PhD). Now I'm taking a year off, but I need to do something with my head.

But anyway, I find that being creative about anything (I also cook a lot), is really helpful, especially now!

    best

    Elaine

    Hi Elaine (Edot),

Thank you so much for your kind comments on my paintings.

The painting of the girl on the beach...... I have since changed the horizon line, as I found it too harsh. The painting of the man walking through the countryside amongst foliage and happy clouds..... I am currently working that into a richer painting, i.e. more darks and lights and more interest around the subject.I will repost when I am finished and see if you ladies think the painting has improved. LOL!

I read your blog!  And I must say..... you are an impressive writer! You write extremely well. Writing is a huge creative departure from our inner turmoils as you already know

My mother was a writer and she escaped and found peace and tranquility in her writing. I remember as a child, where mum would be off into her writing world, and it was only later in life that I knew why she needed to escape... such as dealing with every day problems and wanting to become a successful writer, etc.

You mentioned that your sister is a painter. Since you live in Switzerland, we can only be curious about her art and speculate about the beauty of her surroundings and how she interprets that beauty onto her canvas.

    Best wishes,

    Glenis

what a JOY JOY JOY to have the beauty you photograph in my life, thank ou , Lisa.

Nothing new here in Western MA - except terrible tornado last week, about 20 miles south.  We just got thunder, hail.  In between rains, I've managed to "harvest" the lettuce, greens, I planted in my very small "patch" of a garden - and had my first salad of things I've grown yesterday.  A very small step, but lovely for me ( a city girl!) new to this country life.  Only grew flowers before  - hoping to have sugar snap peas, tomatoes in a few weeks.

Still "playing" with Faber Castel  Water color pencils  - just love them.

what is it, and how did you find out about it?  Sound intriguing....

It's a way to use collage to make a deck of cards that represent the different aspects of your Soul and then you use them as tools for self-discovery (with "readings"). I was introduced to the idea in my grief support group and like the concept.  I just got the book and am ready to start once I get some blank cards ready.  It seems like it might be fun to do with others as well.

You don't need the book to do it:  the website explains everything I think:  www.soulcollage.com

Just want to say hi to everyone on this thread.
I have a lot more posts to read, but I sure enjoyed the ones I've read so far.  WOW!!!  What beautiful paintings and photography!!!  I'm a graphic artist and I have always wanted to learn to paint and take photos.  I drew covers for my church's weekly bulletin for about 10 years. I used to draw portraits and do airbrusing in college (a loooong time ago) but it's fallen to the wayside as I try to stay up-to-date in Adobe computer software for my job.  I own a digital SLR and would love to learn how to use it more creatively. I'm pretty good in Adobe Photoshop.  I'm trying to find my ceativity again.  Over the years it has dried up a bit.  Even before BC.  But you all inspire me.  I find joy just reading through all these posts.  Thank you so much!!!

    Faithroad,

can't wait to see what you'll be creating,  a graphic artist , sounds like you've got a very deep pool to dip into and I'm sure you'll find your creativity is very near the top.

I'm off to find out more about soul collage - thank you blondelawyer...sounds interesting.

Hi all , I LOVE soul collage, I have a friend who uses it in her work, and she took me through the process re: my desire to be more creative. You can see that any collage needs some intepretation, but this reflects my creative self; the parrot comes from a dream that Lily Tomlin offered to be my muse, the grapes come from a line in a Keats poem about "bursting joy's grape"; my enlightened yoga self is shining through the old, prissy, "good girl"; etc:
