why cant i get a dx

ok ladys in early march 2011 my gyno found a lump that alarmed him he sent me for a mammogram that was inconclusive because of dense breast so he sent me for a ultrasound that came back clean so being i am only 35 they decided to just recheck it after six monthes but i should report any new changes to my gyno after about a month i notice my nipple on right breast just dropped and the nipple pointed downward so i went back they sent me for a miraluma scan that came back suspicous so i was refurred to a breast surgion and i asked for a biopsy he said he didn`t think it would be a good idea he then told me no caffeine choculate and take vit e and see you in six monthes three weeks later i was back in his office my left boob is now twice the size as the right one , my nipples have flattened ,my breast texture,shape ,size and color have changed my breast are a pinkish purple color and my veins are so bright blue and it hurts so bad he finally sent me for a mri and now i have to wait till the 16th for the results could this all be in my head my gut and my breast tells me something is not right so why does he push phybrocystic changes could it be that and shouldn`t he have done a biopsy after the miraluma scan come back suspicous  sorry its so long

    Hi Shortsoftsassy I'm really sorry that you are getting the run around.  Unfortunatey this happens all too often and my only suggestion for you is if you are unhappy with the quality of service, find another BS or if you are close enough why not try one of the Major Breast Centres.  I know the time between test and scan and results can seem interminable but please, take a few good deep breaths and try to relax.  The 16th isn't that far away.  Hoping that all comes back B9 for you.

    I'm proud of you for pushing the issue, an MRI will clear up any questions related to breast cancer possibilities.  I agree very much with Chrissy, start looking for another breast surgeon and if it's not BC, back to your regular GYN, altho keep the MRI appointment and followup with your existing breast surgeon.  They did not start breast cancer awareness and early detection for nothing, because the sooner it is diagnosed, the smaller the cancer and easier to cure.  Perhaps the surgeon pegged you for cystic changes based on his experience, but for gosh sakes, I personally think if MRI does not show BC, you need at least treatment for WHAT it is, be it cystic changes or infection, even if it's just antibiotics; you can't have your breast all swollen up and nobody do anything about it!  Hang in, let's hope for the best, and better treatment for whatever it is that is causing your breast to swell so much!  GG

    Yes, I totally understand your frustration.  In February of this year, I had my first mammo.  It showed microcalcifications.  It was recommended I do a Biopsy or the very least a 6 month follow up.  Of course, I chose to see a BS.  I did a breast MRI with contrast.  It was normal.  I then did a stereotactic biopsy which was B9.  But, for some reason my BS was 100% I was safe.  Sooooo, off to surgery I went for an open biopsy.  And there you go!!! BINGO.  Multifocal DCIS of my right breast.  I had a BMX with reconstruction April 8th.  I am so glad my BS did not give up.

    thank you all so much i`ll let you know what the mri results say and i think if the mri comes back suspicous  i will be looking for another surgion because i feel like if he doesnt understand that i know my own body He is not a breast surgion anyway he`s  a general surgion i dont know if that makes a difference

    The biggest complaint against doctors is that they don't listen to their patients.  You know your own body - don't let anyone tell you otherwise.  Push as hard as you need to in order to get an answer.
