Aromosin

After being on aromosin for 1 year I stopped taking it due to severe joint pain and swelling. I was on femara before that and it made me very tired and zomby like. My onco type test came back that I had a 25% chance of reocurrence or 10% chance if I took the hormone therapy. Has anyone else stopped taking it?

Hi,
i have only been on the AIs for 8 months and have already changed 3 times, due to bone/muscle pain in the legs on Femara and Aromosin, changed to Tam. and the pain went, but I got a severe bladder infection, which nobody has been able to heal!! 7 doctors, 3 specialis and no help. So I took my self off Tam and have now started Aromasin again.
I figure I cannot die from leg pain, but I am defintely shortening my chances of living if I give up altogether.!!
My onc, who is hours away and impossible to see or talk to, says there is negligible differenece between the AIs and Tam. but that is not at all what I have read. You get a much better chance, something like 30% or more on one or other of the AIs. Oh dear, all so confusing with no one to advise and still wanting some quality of life.!!
Good luck to you.

Hi,
I have been taking Fermara now for almost a year. I too had a terrible time taking it. It is the third medication I have been on. The inflammation, body aches and hot flashes were really effecting my quality of life. I have found something that has taken away all the side effects. I now can take this medication with no problems at all. If your interested in what I have found please email me at chesketh@photomation.com. -
A frind of mine stopped taking Aromosine because of side effects. She had also usded Femara after about 3 yr on Tamoxofen. She will take her chances with cancer again. I was on Femara but had terrible joint pain. Am now on Aromosin and the joint pains aren't as bad but my right foot feels the cushion is gone on the ball of my foot. Am wearing cushions but still can't walk as much as I care to. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Ladies, ask your onco about Actonel. I was at high risk for recurrence, being only 42, Stage III, 5.5 cm tumor with 9 out of 16 lymph nodes positive (mammogram missed it) The bone and joint pain was horrible (Arimidex-same family as Femara and the Am.... one, and at my next appt. I told him and he put me on Actonel. I didn't have osteoporosis but Actonel also prevents it. You take it once a week and in the middle of week 2, I had NO pain at all. I even had trigger fingers, where they'd lock up and had surgery on one of them. Same thing, before it was time for week 3, all of my fingers unlocked and absolutely no pain.
