this article was also in my local sunday paper.

the significant sentences for us: "The prevention study involved 4,560 women from the U.S., Canada, Spain and France. They had at least one risk factor – being 60 or older, a prior breast abnormality, or pre-invasive cancer or a high score on a scale that takes into account family history and other things."

Nice that aromasin is coming off patent in the US and elsewhere this year......

One more item to add to my list of questions for my next visit with the medical oncologist!

Same here!  I will be having my lumpectomy this Friday and radiation afterwards.  It would be nice if this drug was a good alternative to tamoxifen.

Good luck, WorkingMom10, on your lumpectomy tomorrow. I'm 2.5 years out from mine. Also over 60 and I've been on Arimidex (one of the aromatase inhibitors), for more than two years. A few months ago a new oncologist at my clinic informed me that was useless because only Tamoxifen worked on DCIS. But my surgeon had said she thought once all the studies were in that it would be found that AIs would be superior. So I'm staying on Arimidex!

Jelson, please report on what YOUR oncologist says at your next visit.
