I visited my Dad after work and in my opinion I don't think he is ready for a nursing home.  I think my brother just wants to get rid of the duty of renewing his scripts through the VA.  He says, quote unquote. It's a fu%%ing pain in the ass.  WHAT A DINK!!  After all it is his responsibility, he is Health Care Proxy.

I posted on my wall that, "In my opinion I do not feel my Dad is ready for a nursing home," and my niece responded, "Hate to break it to you Auntie but he is."  She has not seen him in months, the little bitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Funny how that works Deb - the young know-it-alls who know nothing really.  Sorry you have to deal with that.

Deb -  Not all nursing homes.  The last five years before I retired I was an auditor for the State medicaid program.  Since retiring I spent almost 2 months in one recovering from acute pancreatitis.  I've seen everything from real hell holes to homes that could pass for the finest retirement centers.

Careful selection and monitoring make a big difference in the quality of life in a facility.

Wow - so healthy Sheila.  You are a good girl.  I am very bad.  I need to try to eat better like Sheila.   ((((((((Sheila)))))))))

Sorry Deb.  Caring for the elderly can be so heartbreakingly difficult.  I hope those who have no idea would keep their mouths shut.   ((((((Deb)))))))

    Thinking of you, Sandy.   (((((((Sandy))))))))

Had a rough start to the day - DS passed out in his room getting ready for school this morning.  It was warm, but not that warm.  Not sure what happened.  Did a face plant and cut his lip on his braces - got a bruise on his back and a big scratch/cut on his thigh - probably from one of the 3 dresser drawers he left open.  I HATE that he leaves them open like that!!!!  Maybe now he will listen to me and close them and clean up his disaster of a room.  It's a hazard.  He's lucky he didn't get more hurt.  He fell into the one foot space between his dresser and his desk.  Not sure why it happened - low blood pressure?  He didn't get much warning (head rush) before he just blacked out.  That's a bit disconcerting.  Now I need to make an appt to get an EKG for him to see if he has an arrythmia or anything else the EKG can pick up that would cause syncope.

So that was quite the start to the day.

Next Wednesday my brother and I are going to see our lawyer to make sure Medicaid can not touch the house.  I heard the they don't recognize the irrevocable trust.  3 years ago our lawyer said we passed the waiting period and everything is good, but I want it said to me again.

Deb keep on top of it.  Thanks, got the scan at 9am left to go to a funeral and some girl went through a "yellow light" so she says and I hit her and now my car is undriveable, waiting for the report and for them to look at it and hopefully it won't be totalled, it is a 2002 dodge stratus with 97,000 on it, and if you remember I only have had it 8 months.....she told me and the police that she went through the light but who knows, so now I am carless again and it is almost the weekend...never went to the funeral or the other meeting i had this afternoon......did go to the boys game and they lost in a nailbiter...George got thrown out the other day for cursing out the ump so he didn't play......sorry to ramble, anyway and waiting now for the results...thaks for caring..

Aw man - that sucks, Sandy.  I hope they can fix your car.  ((((((((Sandy))))))))

    ((((((((Deb))))))))   ((((((((Sheila))))))))

My son doesn't play sports - he plays video games.  He does Scouts - and band (a little).  DD used to play all the sports, but one by one, she stopped playing them.  So I used to do all the running around - but not anymore.  She's in several music groups and biology club and does a few things with the music honor society.

Sheila - probably not the week to cancel, ha?  How about a cab as a splurge in your weather?

Deb - There is a waiting period and it seemed to change to fit the state of MA desires so you are wise to get it in writing, though I am not sure how valuable it is to have it in writing from your lawyer.  I'd ask him to attach the state law and designate that this is your situation. The state took my father's house, car and all other proceeds to pay for my mom's long term health issues after he died. They died six weeks apart. I paid for all final medical bills, funerals, and lawyer fees because MA took everything else. I was not reimbursed. You are much smarter than I was.
