How about a new forum on osteoporosis and bone health?

Hi, Mods --

JoyLiesWithin (Sheila) said she had sent a PM asking if you would consider creating a new forum that would deal with osteopenia, bones, bisphosphonates, etc.  I'd like to second her request.  It's something we've been talking about on the Hormonal Therapy forum for awhile, and there seems to be pretty good support.

Issues pertaining to "bone health" are especially important to women on estrogen-blocking or estrogen-suppressing drugs; but any woman dealing with BC treatment, or even just normal aging, should be thinking about maintaining healthy bones.  JoyLiesWithin listed dozens of topics that are likely to be raised.  Most of them are already beeing discussed in threads in various places on the Boards.

Unfortunately, those discussions end up scattered all over the Boards where they won't be seen by women not hanging out in those sections.  So we were thinking it might be helpful to have a forum dedicated to the issue.

What I don't know is what to call the topic, or where to put it.  JoyLiesWithin said she suggested "Osteopenia, Bones, and Bisphosphonates."  "Osteoporosis" is of more concern than "osteopenia", though; and there are other treatment strategies besides bisphosphonates.  I'd like to see that forum as a place to discuss all the ins-and-outs of calcium and Vitamin D supplementation and testing.

Also, where should the forum go?  Should it be in "Tests, Treatments, and Side Effects"?  Or, perhaps it should be in "Day to Day Matters," since bone health is an ongoing, life-long issue for us.  Loss of bone density is a common SE of cancer treatment, but keeping our bones healthy requires healthy eating, exercise, etc., besides the possibility of prescription drugs.

I'm hoping maybe we can discuss some of the options here, and come up with a consensus.

Thank you for doing that so quickly!!!  It's great to have a forum for discussions of bone health, and it's easy to find.  I really appreciate your responsiveness.
