Cataracts from Chemo??

I just had an appointment with my optometrist and he told me I have a cataract developing in each eye - probably due to chemo. Did anyone hear of this before? I don't have symptoms or anything, I was there for a regular check up.  I had 6 rounds of TAC in 2006, I've never heard of chemo-induced cataracts and was wondering if anyone else has? Cool

Hi Cindy - yes I was on Tamoxifen for 2 years and now I'm on Aromasin. Maybe he meant those drugs - I guess they are chemo too aren't they? I didn't think of that. Anyway, regardless, I'm happy to have the chemo even if it means having cataract surgery later on. Thanks for the response.

Cindy, Yes chemo can cause cataracts. I also have them from chemo last year. One lady who had chemo at the same time as me had to have her's removed during chemo because they had gotten so bad.

By the way chemo can also cause a person to become diabetic.
