Sue,
You are such an inspiration!
Also, thank you to all the other ladies who have shared their stories.
Tomorrow will be 2 weeks and counting.....so much to do!

LadyM13, I do the same thing. I say next time I am here I will have 2 ta tas, next time I see so and so I will have 2 noobs. alexanjb@2Boobs.com!!!!!!!
-
@alexanjb... HAHAHA, you are killing me over here! Tomorrow evening when I wake up in the PACU , I'm changing my email addy to TheXRayest@2HOTboobs.com! That's awesome. And I thought taking out a billboard sign was enough, but no - the cyber world needs to know I have two boobs again also..HAHAHA. I have no Valium - but I do have Ativan = every anxious gals friend. The weirdness is, I'm not anxious at all, so I'm not going to pop a pill.
I took my official last X-ray as a uniboober today, LOL. I am now off from working the daily grind until August 30...WOOT! Of course I don't have everything accomplished that I wanted to, but at this point - hookaires. I just have to pack my bag (with not much stuff at all), and charge my Ipod and cell, and I think I'm good to go. I thank all of you who are sending good thoughts, well-wishes, and positive (((vibes))) my way. I have to admit that even though I don't feel anxious, I am a little freaked out that I am actually going through will this surgery. YIKES!
I have seen the OR Live video - "uncensored version", and was very impressed with the outcome. Blood and gore doesn't bother me - I see it all the time at work. That OR Live doctor - Mark Smith I believe his name is - is a fine piece of eye candy. Not sure if I would want someone that good-looking working on my imperfect body. Such is life.
So ladies...I will be leaving for the hospital in 7 and 1/2 hours. Perhaps a nice leisurely bath is in order after I finish packing. I will post as soon as I can. GOOD LUCK to everyone else who will be DIEPing this week along with me
See you on the other side.
~Lori

c8ndygr1-I read the article on the website you mentioned. It was a good article. I'm not brave enough for the video right now though. I also googled about the epidural with a DIEP and it made sense, it sounds like it must be the pain ball things, but I couldn't really tell if it was routine or in clinical trial or what. When I heard epidural I thought it was like the shot during labor, I guess I'll already be out anyway. And I think, I think too much!
-
Lori...
Good luck tomorrow.. I'm sending you healing vibes....I'm SO happy for you and can't wait til it's my turn next week.
This is the last time I'll write to you while you have one boobie...hooray!!
Mo

Xrayest@2hotboobs.com, I am falling out laughing. When it is my turn please keep the jokes heading my way.
Sue, I am glad to hear from you and happy to hear you have had such a great weekend and speedy recovery!

If you weren't a little freaked, that would be weird - sounds pretty darn healthy!
You are going to be so happy when you wake with new boobs! I'll be sending you lots of positive energy. You will do fantastic! Know that each step is one step closer to being home and on your way to looking and feeling fabulous!

Hello, girls. Just came home from my Bilateral DIEP, Stage I, two days ago. My doctors were Drs. Kline, Craigie, and Baron at the Center for Natural Breast Reconstruction and the procedure was at the East Cooper Hospital. I'm doing great! My surgery was May 25th. Stayed in the hospital for a week, then moved over to the Driftwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Charleston, S.C. for a week. My treatment at the hospital and at Driftwood can only be described as "perfection." I will always be indebted to the wonderful people who took such good care of me. Today starts my third week out from surgery and I'm going shopping. This is tough surgery, but I would do it all again. Good Luck. Feel free to private message me.
-
Geez Brenda, I am sooooo happy to hear that!!! You won't hit the 3 week mark until Wednesday and you are already going back shopping! How was your trip home? You obviously made it fine! I am so thrilled for you. Also, for those of you who don't know, Brenda and I have the same surgical team. I am really excited that you posted such wonderful things about the team and the place. You have given me great peace!
Susan
-
Brenda, one more question. At 2 1/2 weeks out are you able to wear your regular clothes? If not, what are you wearing?
Alexanjb, you are up next. How are you doing?
Xray, I am thinking about you and praying that everything is going well for you. You will be in my every thought today. I can't wait to hear all about your 2hotboobs.com.

Brenda! Awesome! My surgery was just moved closer by two hours. I have to be at the hospital by 6:30 am on Wednesday. OK, with me. But DH works until midnight and we live 45 minutes from well...just about anywhere civilized! He is going to see if he can leave work early on Tuesday night. I don't know if it will matter, he is so used to his schedule that he might not be able to sleep longer anyway. I am doing ok, so far. Trying to catch up on laundry and watering the plants, cleaning the bathrooms, etc. I know from experience that there are things that just won't get done by DH if I don't do them and there are some things I feel funny asking anyone else to do.
-
Oh Happy Day Ladies: By the end of August, we will all have our boobies and maybe some of us will have gone through stage 2.
Brenda: I am so happy for you! Tomorrow I will have my post -op and there are 3 things on my agenda to ask about: driving, walking and sex. some how this surgery has pushed some sort of sensual button, or maybe I just feel just that darn sexy. I am 59 and why I am having these sex urges is beyond me.
Alexa: You are going to wake up so beautiful! The temporary discomfort will all be worth it.
-
I have been wearing my normal cloths since 2 weeks out but every evening after dinner I put on my comfy stretchy shorts btw walmart has some good stretchy shorts and carpi's made by danskin they are usually found on a shelf. I like the bike shorts. I have been driving since a week after surgery, PS said it would be okay to drive because I wasn't taking and pain meds. Been walking everyday, while we were camping we went on walking trails and I walked a mile each day. Had sex while camping too LOL I know more info than you wanted to know. I am getting used to the new girls and they don't look to bad, I just had to try on one of my mastectomy bras and they filled it out real nice and its a 36 C. If I could change anything about them I'd have they protrude out farther from my chest, they are more round than out, if you know what I mean. I have been thinking about the nipples and I don't think I want to have semi hard looking nipples I think I will just have the tattooing done. I like not having to wear a bra. Have a good day ladies. It is HOT here today 95. Go figure we'd go from cold rainy to hot and humid.
-
Sue, That is fantastic! I love that we are all 'real' here and no one gets tweaked out of shape about it and we honor everyone's personal journey, choices, and experiences.
It seems like just yesterday you were getting ready for surgery and now you are camping, walking, driving and getting nookie! May not be everyone's journey, but it certainly is inspiring!
I'm excited that I actually feel like cleaning my house today . . . that is a milestone for me! whoo hoo!

My DH has to get everything okay'ed from the Dr.'s mouth. For his peace of mind I can wait 1 more day. I am really excited about my new body.and I am choosing what and how much I eat very carefully. I told him that I do not want to stretch my new stomach. When he lost weight, and it is much easier for men than women I had a hard time getting him to eat anything and still do.I have been showing my new look to every woman that stops by to see me. My niece told me that I had really inspired her. She has been doing some intense work outs, since seeing my new look.
-
Awwww Carolyn, I am so excited for you!!! I am proud for you girl! Keep up the great work and you will be in your next set of numbers in no time!
Sue, so, in the TMI department, did anything hurt? How are your incisions looking?
I can't stop thinking about Lori today. I keep wondering if her twins are attached yet. Lori, you are sleeping all nice and peaceful but my stomach is churning for you. Prayers, prayers and more prayers going up on your behalf!

To you girls who have gone before us, it's so great to hear how soon you are getting back to normal and doing all the things you did before your surgery like walking, cooking, driving, and getting busy in the bedroom (or sleeping bag for you campers - lol). There is light at the end of this tunnel. And a chance for a new and improved body. I'm going small so I'll probably lose 10 lbs with just these large breasts alone.
I'm looking forward to it.
Got two weeks to go but it should go by quickly. Have three pre-op appointments scheduled - 1) my regular doctor, 2) pre-admission with the surgery staff at the hospital, and 3) a final consultation with my PS. Plus probably have blood work and EKG to do. Finally getting to see some action during this seemingly long wait for surgery.
How about you, Mo (Ladym13)? Are you ready for next week?
-
mscal02 WOW new boob, new tummy, new sex urges, now everyone is gonna want this surgery!
I show everyone my new stuff, male or female, ha ha! If I only had some hair I would be one sexy mamma at 52!
-
Carberry, I am still waiting on the boob and the hair! UGH!!
Susan
-
You ladies are TOOOOOOO much! I came on here 2 yrs., 3 months ago and learned a lot about my BC, but no one was as 'excited' as you gals about their surgery!!!! You are all an inspiration! Wishing you all an extremely quick recovery!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kathy

Susan hair and boobs will happen soon. I am 6 months out from chemo. It is funny how excited were are to get these things back. My hair is full but still only like an in. and a half long growing so slow.
-
c8ndygr1....eeeeeek I'm ready I THINK...lmao!
I am definatley ready to have two boobs...now that my hair is getting to a decent stage, I'm ready to feel hot again...hopefully.
I have my preop appointment on Friday.....Thought about Lori all day today...
Mikita5...I agree...we ARE too much...lol... all these women are AMAZING and so funny and I'm not sure I would have made it this far without you all....so happy to have you all
Mo
-
Thanks Mikita5, we are not excited about the surgery, we are excited about getting it over with....at least that is the case with me. Having a noob will symbolize taking control and putting BC behind me.
-
Mscazl-sex? What is that? I haven't done that in 7 years since the night my husband disappeared. I long for the day that I will know what it feels like to be with a loving, sensitive, (and sexy) man. You go girl. Life is short. I just finished stage I, but I can honestly say that if I did have a man around, he'd be on the sofa. I still have one drain, and I'm very tender around my waiste. My breasts aren't symmetric yet and have stitches around them. so I'm not feeling sexy. But after stage II when all is finished and I have nipples, Katie bar the door. Haha. Seriously, I already feel like a woman again and can't wait to finish up stages II and III. After stage III, I'm inviting my friends over for a TaTa party. After being with the Charleston team, I have absolutely no reservations about finishing the other stages. I felt totally at peace with them.
-
brendalee3 your husband really disappeared?
-
Hey, XRay, you'll be fine. I just finished Stage I and got home about two days ago. I'm not even on pain meds. I feel tight around my waist, but other than that, I'm fine. The worst of the whole procedure for me were days three and four when they make you get out of bed. For the next few days, it's just a hassle trying to juggle those drains when you shower. I never had any pains in my breasts. The whole thing goes by very quickly. Don't hesitate to ask for pain meds, especially if you know you are going to have to get out of bed. The pain is not horrible, just a little aggravating for a few days. Take care and keep us posted when you get on your feet again. Brenda
-
Hi Susan,
I can wear any top that is loose fitting and pants that are loose around the waiste. My breasts will not be symmetric until after stage II so I don't want to wear anything close fitting yet. Also, I'm still wearing the bras Dr. Kline gave me and they have a tendency to flatten you. Maybe in a few weeks when I'm softer and I get the go-ahead, I'll go bra shopping for a bra that would give me a little more shape. You definitely will want room to breathe in your clothes. Little sun dresses would probably be nice and comfortable because they don't confine your middle. For the first week in the hospital, you'll just have on the hospital gown. I'm excited for you.
-
Thanks, Brenda, I'll take 'aggravating' vs 'horrible' pain any day. Good to hear another report of 'not so bad.' If you don't mind my asking, how asymetrical (sp?) are your new breasts? Is it size or shape or location (higher/lower), dips/dents? I know to expect it in Stage I and that everyone gets theirs fixed in Stage II. What was your first reaction? How do you feel about your outcome in Stage I?
I appreciate your encouraging posts.
I. Can. Do. This.
