Just to let you know I am ok.

How's the holiday planning going?  I am finding it tough with working, but getting there.

I have two students staying with me as mine have all flown the nest no; I have Julie from Norway who is staying with until around June time and Sara from Germany, she goes home on 9 April - so two more for Christmas - they are great to have around and no bother at all - love to hear them giggle together, their English is very good which helps.

     Susan will email you.

    Obviously didn't proofread enough.

I am pleased that I have not lost my teaching touch - I got an 'outstanding' observation a couple fo weeks ago - you know, this is all just not so important anymore, the teaching is but not the dam paperwork.

     Hello friends,

I'm glad to see things seem to be ok with those of you who are still posting.

This week I took my last little white pill (Arimidex- changed to the generic anastrozole by my insurance company) after taking them daily for more than 5 years. That's the end of my official treatment for BC (surgery, chemo, radiation, hormonal therapy) so now besides regular check ups I'm on my own.

My oncologist left the practice a couple of months ago so my latest appointment was with someone I didn't know. I had to bring him up to speed on my case. He seems ok but after developing a relationship with someone over a long difficult time, it seems  strange to be starting over with someone new at this point.

He said I have a 1 in 10 chance of recurrence, but for all intents and purposes I'm "cured". Hopefully, I'll just see him for check ups and not anything else.

I'm glad I can keep up with some of you on Facebook, but I'll stop by here occasioanally to see how you're doing.

We've been through so much together, you're never far from my thoughts.

    Peggy

    Peg,

I am so glad that you are moving on, past this breast cancer phase. The last pill deserves some kind of celebration. Going forward, you know where to find me.

I hate being sick....I am sure thats all it is but the lymph node in my right arm pit (non cancer side) is huge! I go for my regular checkup tomorrow so they will look at it then. I started running a low grade fever this afternoon so I am thinking its just an infection.

Other then that I am doing well and have still kept off 60lbs!!! When I can I have joined group and go two days a week on the water. I am still riding my bike on a regular basis also. Triatholon season is coming up here very quickly. Training starts on the 14th!!!

Peg....glad you took your last pill... I stopped mine 6 months early.

take care all my sept sisters!!!

    Hello my sisters

It is with a heavy heart I return here to tell you of my latest news. Monday I was diagnosed with a single brain met. I have been having intense migraines for a while now and when i look back I have been experiencing many symptoms however they could all be put down to being tired, stressed or just life! So I haven't worried. Last week I had a bit of an episode where I had a migraine but became disorientated, confused, had trouble with speech, reading and recognising numbers. Very scary. My dr was actually looking for a brain bleed/stroke however a met was found instead. Obviously I am still amazingly stunned and shocked. I had a full body CT yesterday that showed I have no other mets anywhere else which is a relief!! However I have to gather myself and fight again- this time the brain. So overwhelming!!

I hope to hear tomorrow or Monday about when surgery will be scheduled but all indications are pointing to within the next week or 2. I will continue with herceptin since it seems to be doing a good job with protecting the rest of my body and whole brain radiation will commence once surgery is done. Beyond that I do not know. it is all so scary and of course, I am again doing this on my own with the kids so I am sure it will really test me out!! I haven't told the children yet, I want to have all my facts and treatment dates before I do so I can be as factual as possible. Toben already suspects something as he asked me last night if I am sick... I passed it off as having a bit of a cough (I had hayfever!) but will be lucky to keep up the bravado over the next few days I think. I can't cry because I am scared I won't stop so I am just going forward as much as I can.

I am on facebook almost daily so that is probably the best place to catch me or my direct email is leannemyles1 @ gmail . com

     Love to you all

    xxxx

Haven't seen an update from Leanne yet. It is 1:30 Wednesday in Brisbane, and I would have hoped a friend would post on Facebook letting us know how she is doing.

    Just a little worried,

Leanne just posted about an hour ago on FB.  Op went well but she is having some vision problems.  She won't be on FB much because of it, but she sounds well.

Man, I am tired of this disease!!

    Love to you all!

Another candle for Nicole's family - I believe it would have been Nicole's birthday time.

Susan, Leanne - everyone - always in my thoughts.  I am on a big downer at the moment so not very good company - supporting a dear friend of mine who is I guess/know will not be with me for much longer - she is now fighting bowel/stomach youknowhat and no further treatment is being offered.   This blxxxxxxxx thing just takes over minds and we shouldn't let it.     X?X>?X (this is a lot of wearing and cursing).

On a positive note, the weather is lovely here in Amington.  We have a duck who has decided to nest in our herb patch - she is sitting 10 eggs which are due to hatch around the 16 May.

Yesterday marked the first anniversary of mets for me. Yes, I am doing well. And yes, it was a sad day. But today is a new day. Tomorrow is my injection and monthly blood tests. Hoping for a continuation of stable.

Tonight was a very special night indeed... Peg and I met in Boston for drinks. Can't speak for her, but for me? It was an easy meeting. You know we all know each other so well it was easy to find things to discuss. Our treatments, our jobs, our kids, what to do in Boston.... did the conversation ever falter? Don't think so.... And we talked about everyone who is part of this thread and how important they are to us.  There were pictures taken. I expect that they will show up on facebook.

    Hope all is well....

Today was the day.... to meet my new oncologist and to get my PET scan results. With a new oncologist comes a new waiting room, and new desk staff, and new volunteers. And they are all so much older! I must have been the youngest person in the waiting room by at least 20 yrs [and I am not a spring chicken!]After an endless wait [about 15 min] Nurse Lauren took me back to the room and dove right in. With a huge smile she said, "your scans look good." Of course I wanted to know how we were defining "good" and so she opened up the report. Nothing! There are many words in the report, two pages of words, but the bottom line, I am dancing with my boy NED!!!!!!!!! All three spots are gone!New oncologist will be okay. Still holding out judgement to be honest. She wants to bring me into line with a double dose of Faslodex instead of the single dose. She isn't as interested in the rest of my body as Dr. Roger, but for now I am not going to fire her.NED! Can you believe it? I am just beside myself.
