Booboo on bad arm. Waaaaaa.
I scraped bloody the knuckle on thumb of LE side. Immediartely cleaned it off, applied Neosporin and a bandaid. It was pretty tough getting my glove on w/o ruining the bandaid. This went on for a few days and still no scab. So I slept w/o oven mitt one night and it scabbed over nicely. Just to be safe, applied bandaid before putting on my glove. Then that evening as I'm getting ready to switch from compression sleeve/glove to oven mitt, when I took stuff off, the thumb was all weepy again. No scab. Decided to wrap last night figuring finger wraps would be better than bandaid. This AM had scab. By the time I was done with all the LE stuff, weepy-seepy angry red scraped thumb. It's really hot today and I HAVE to go out for a few hours, so decided to try my glove w/o bandaid and see how I do. It's all red and hurts but no sign of infection. BTW, this is a tiny injury but in a most crucial spot on the knuckle of thumb so I'm always moving it. Am I being a big baby? Worrying too much? Don't know how else to treat it. If I go w/o glove or gauntlet, I swell.

Ah Kane--do be careful. I have no advice as I have not yet experienced a cut yet but I hope it heals okay. Too bad you have to go out. I am staying in today and doing projects instead of braving the 95+ heat. Becky

Gosh darn, if it's not one thing it's another! The gift of LE. I'm inclined to think that if you can get away with airing it out a bit when you are not running around that it might help. Might also try a triple antibiotic ointment instead of neosporin and see if it helps. I was recently treated for an infection in the LE quadrant and dr wanted me to stay away from neosporin because sometimes people have a sensitivity to it which makes it hard for skin to heal. Hope you treat yourself to a nice, tall cool one this afternoon.

Aw, Kane! Can you put on your sleeve and wrap just your hand? Seems like the best protection-plus-air alternative. I'll second SIS on the Neosporin -- it can cause some people grief.
NOT a baby, NOT over-reacting!
LE changes our reality and we have to take seriously what we used to ignore. My family has finally gotten the message about it, but they were skeptical at first when I'd panic over a paper cut. Now they all know where all the triple-antibiotic is and they rush to get it whenever I so much as bump into something. The alternative to all this vigilance is a few days in the hospital on IV antibiotics. So hold your head up high and treat your knuckle scrape with all the attention it needs!
Get better soon!

Thanks all. I thought Neosporin WAS triple antibiotic. Now I should go out again! Anyway, did all my ererands (explain that later) with the glove on and am none the worse. Took it off as soon as I got home and my "wound" is not so angry at me. Will rest and prop for awhile. Binney, great idea to wear sleeve and wrap fingers.
Anyway, in a few days, my DH trurns 60 and I wanted to get him something I know he REALLY wants but didn't know how to pull it off due to joint everything. Then I decided to gather all the gold jewelry I don't wear any longer and sell it. WOW!!! I got a bundle. Way more than I needed. That was kind of a shocker and now I can reward my honey for being such a great wrapper on his 60th b-day. The jewelry store couldn't give it to me all in cash, but they gave me what I needed for his gift and a check for the rest. I'll put the check in his B-day card and really bowl him over.
Thanks again for your help.

Prescription of Bactroban?????? It's the only antibiotic ointment or cream than soaks into ALL layers of the dermis (skin). I do not know what I would do without it, since I am constantly nicking, cutting, scratching with blackberry bushes, getting bitten on my LE fingers hand and arm. A peeling cuticle! Seriously, red patches are gone overnight. My prescription has eternal refills...... Get some!!!!
