DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  treated myself to a mani/pedi afterwards and when I went to pay, the woman who had been  sitting beside me had paid for my pedicure!  I didn't even know her...we just were chatting and then she left before I did....what a nice surprise!  Good luck to you all with your treatments and take good care of that skin!  xoxoxoxo

Wow!  She was very nice.  And good idea, thegood5.  Wish I thought of that!  Congatulations for finishing.  How do you feel about it?

Susan~I thought I would be tearing up, since everyone says how it hits them emotionally and I cry at the drop of a hat, but I was completly fine!  Just happy about it!  I said to my husband tonight that it's weird to think I don't have to go there tomorrow in the middle of my morning alone time. (kindergartener goes from 9-11:30 and my appt's were at 10...made it hard to get anything done!)

I know the feeling! My son is in school until 2:10, but going in at 9 was really shortening my time to get things done.  I've actually been spending the last week picking up my disaster of a house.  I had piles on every horizontal service.  Finally can sit done and sort through things.  It's a good feeling!

thegood5:  Much congratulations on being DONE!!  Great idea to have a mani/pedi afterwards - I agree with Susan, I wish I had thought of that!  I was so tired afterwards (my rads were at 2:30 pm) I didn't have enough energy to go out and celebrate...And how sweet was the lady next to you to pay for it?  There are some nice people out there - it's too bad the lousy ones get all the press...

Have a great weekend all ((((hugs))))

Thanks Ritaz!  It's never too late to go and get that done!  I've had a manicure before but never a pedi, and I also got my eyebrows waxed for the first time!  It's weird...before BS I was fine to go and do things with other people, but now I feel so much more independent.  I guess from going to so many appts and flashing my boobs to everyone I would meet!  But I wanted to go do that yesterday by myself, just a small celebration for me, myself and I!  And the woman beside me...wish I could thank her...soooo sweet!  She totally got it...said she was dx 5 yrs ago with MS and we talked about how priorities change real quick. (like getiing mani/pedi's..haha!)  Have a great weekend!

I had my eyebrows waxed for the first time about a month ago, as well!  I also have been keeping my hair maintained more since diagnosis, probably because I did not have chemo and feel blessed to still have my hair, I appreciate it more.  Even though, I've noticed snce rads started, I am losing more hair than normal.  Any one else notice more hair falling out?  Probably because all the protein is going to the breast cells, not the hair cells.  i have too much hair so I'm not worried.  They are always thinning it at the salon.

Hey Susan!  I too noticed a lot of hair loss during rads.... but like you said, can't complain since I still had hair.   My blonde really started to gray these past 6-7 months so now I'm going high maintenance!  I'm two weeks out and the hair loss has stopped and my skin has stopped molting.  I gave up on the aquaphor .. it wasn't working on my red spots.  I blistered several times over where the boost target spots were.  At one point the blisters looked like they were infecting but neosporin cleared that up.  I purchased some Bio Oil the other day and my angry, flaky skin cleared overnight.  Starting the job hunt and my first visit with my BS is this coming week.  My best wishes to all!

Hi ladies I was suppose to finish my rads on thursday but they added 3 more, 8 boosts instead of 5...........got 1 already............how bad are the boosts after you get a few...have been lucky with the skin, some problems but nothing I could not handle,,,,,,,,,now I'm concerned about so many boosts......1.2 mm  margin in 1 spot so the RO wanted more then 5 boosts...........I was 2mm everywhere else......she still was not satisfied so is doing more to that area.......really angry about it, plus the LE that is beginning, so not a good day.......should really stop my bitching I am a hell of a lot better off then some.    hugs ladies to the girls who are done...

Ducky-so sorry that you had to have more!  I had 36 total as well.  the boosts are so much better.  I was still tired (and still am after finishing on tuesday) but the skin started healing right after the full breast txs were completed.  It is not so bad.  just think-you're so close to being done!  Hang in there, girl, and think about the celebration when you're through...hugs...susan

Debbie-I guess i'm not imagining things then!  Nice to know that it will get better.  I've given up on Aquaphor as well until at night when I wear my sexy white T-shirt ;WinkMy skin turned out to be not too bad.  i just had some tiny blisters and lots of darkness everywhere, but now it's sloughing off.  hooray!

Merilee, my hair also kept growing in very well during rads. Finished chemo in Feb. Best wishes!

I finished rads on 5/20 & I think I am just about done peeling. My skin turned over very quickly, thank goodness.

thegood5 - congrats on finishing and glad you got a mani/pedi, and so nice for someone else to pay for it.  I started getting pedis for the first time last year and loved it, so I went the day after my last rad to get my first of the summer!  The polish never stays on my nails (finger) so I didn't do a mani.  And I've never had my eyebrows waxed either, but thinking about it.

Merilee, yes your hair will start to grow during rads!

I'm two weeks done with Rads today and only seemed to have some small peeling in the boost area last week.  I still feel flashes of heat in the breast, more so this week than last even.  Still using the aquaphor.  The skin is slowly fading and the nipple went from bright red to just pink, no peeling yet.

Hi All! one week post-rads....still tired at the end of last week, but not too bad this week.  My breast is starting to look more normal, but I had an anxiety attack when I tried on a bathing suit yesterday.  The dent in the side of my breast is more noticeable in a bathing suit because the side of the suit is loose where the lumpectomy was.  Geez, if i react so strongly now, how will i be after 2 months post-rads?!  Those of you almost finished, there is light a the end of the tunnel.  There really is!

Anyone having dry eye issues or blurred vision?  Went to the eye doc today .. my tear ducts are dry /  not working ...  & my perscription almost doubled since my last visit in August!  Could be a coincidence ... or not?

Hi Aimee ~ I live just north of Spokane and am also TN.  Went to SCC for a consult and am having my treatments here in Spokane.  At this point I am uncertain if I will need radiation, just curious as to who you are using for Drs and how they came about the need for radiation.  I am also stage 2a.  Hope you are through your rad treatment at this point.

Hi TerryZig - nice to meet you but sorry it is under these circumstances. I was born in Spokane (53 years ago), but was an army brat so lived everywhere.

I had chemo 4XTC from Jan-March, then radiation from April -mid May, so am all done and in the 6 month watchful waiting club. The reason I had rads was because I had a lumpectomy instead of a MX. I went to PSCC (Puget Sound Cancer Care) for my treatments through Swedish Edmonds hospital.

Sounds like your diagnosis is pretty recent - those days are the hardest and all the information can be overwhelming. Feel free to PM me anytime, and I wish you well.

Hi everyone, I'm done. Last rad yesterday...I am exhausted but am still hacking and coughing 9th day now.  Looking forward to a little bit of energy, soon.

Bluelily, I've been in gas permeable contacts since I was 12, about a month after I finished chemo I had to revisit the eye doctor.  He said my tear production was changed.  I had massive issues for about a month, then it seemed to subside.  My MO said chemo can affect your eyesight.  Hope it resolves quickly for you.

Bluelily- I had lots of dry eye issues during rads.  Also, my left eye kept twitching in the first few weeks.  I figured it was due to my being dehydrated.  It seems to be better now, but I don't have my eye doctor appt. until September.  I wear contacts as well.

Gina-  Congatulations to you!!!! I bet you feel good?  I know the end was bittersweet for me, but if you've been having all those probelms, I'm sure it is a relief for you to finally get to heal.

The energy starts to come back, but it is very slow and gradual.  They told me it would be 4 weeks until it all returns and I think they are right!  I just woke up from a nap that I could ,not with all my might ,resist! ;)

Forgot to mention also that the OT I saw last week said that I should be massaging the rad skin, not now, but once it has healed.  My RO did not mention this, but maybe because it is too soon, I will have to ask about this at my follow up.  Anyone else hear this?
