And the circle continues.....Luan, unfortunately the batcave is alive and well and used my some rather unsavory posters..those are the ones thenewme is referring to

I also have to wonder if the "bullies" here who scream troll if anyone dares to disagree are actually the same bullies in other threads, but with different names

Hence. the circle continues....and the creepiness factor (uh, yea, that's you, janeluvsdogs) just gets scarier and scarier

Isn't BC hard enough without all the high school attitude? I can see why we get to Mach 12 in 60 seconds.....we have been told that we have a potential death sentence...had our breasts cut into or off...given poisonous medications to burn disease out of our bodies...then on maintenance poisons for 5 years. Then wear pink & be proud. Ya, it could wear on you a bit....

But can't we all just get along?

    Peace.

Does anyone remember what Dr. Oz called the screening for BC that involved an injection of some sort? I have very dense breasts and have discovered another lump and I need to go in next week to get it checked out. Would love for them to try this technique instead of just the mammo. Thanks.

Its entirely not true that "no one has died taking supplements."  Does anyone remember the L-Tryptophan deaths, maybe 20 years ago?  There was a rash of them, and i remember it because I took L-Tryptophan to help me sleep and it was a big wake-up call for me.  I am not against supplements, I have taken them since at various times.  But I think we need to recognize that they are drugs, not food, and should treat them with the same awareness we do other drugs.  After all, if something is strong enough to help your body fight cancer, its going to be strong enough to have side effects for some people.

Those deaths were caused by genetically engineered material used by Showa Denko.  ...to my mind, more of an alarm against genetically engineered materials than supplements.

The fact that they were genetically engineered is one theory but the prevailing theory is that there was some kind of bacterial contaminant.  Supplements are not regulated in the manner that pharmaceuticals are so things like this can happen more readily.  As I said, I have taken supplements since this happened so I don't see it as a blanker "supplements are bad" statement.  But I do think people should be careful and recognize that bad things can happen with supplements.

    MOC...

My ND says we should be aware of what we buy in health food stores and should consult a naturopathic doctor to guide us in our decisions.

I should point out though, if you take a look at  "dealing with SE's of Arimidex" on the arimidex SE's thread, these women are, without realising it following naturopathic guidelines!!!!!

For example, one of the first concerns for an ND in looking at the overall health problems of a patient is having vitamin D checked to see if the patient is lacking in D.!!!!!!

Another supplement the girls on the SE of Arimidex thread are using is .... chrondritin with MSM to deal with pain associated with the drug.

These are both supplements that you find in health food stores.

I am astounded sometimes when i come across comments from some Bco members who say "they stay away from the alternative threads."  What are they afraid of? What can they be afraid of.?...they can only learn how to promote a better prognosis for themselves!!! To quote a very popular phrase " that's a no brainer." Durh!!!

And that is the reason why much more research money needs to go to non-biased, non-profit entities. Whoever heard of vit D a few years ago, research now says it can prevent cancer. i pay around 5$ for 90 x 1000 iu

I think a lot of women stay away from the alt boards because they are so contentious.  There are lots of women in the other sections doing a variety of approaches but when you come here and question anything alternative you get called a troll, or accused of telling people they will die, or being a "chemo-evangelist."  And it escalates very quickly.

The problem is in the definition of alternative versus complementary. I do lots of complementary things (even acupuncture) - D3, Caltrate etc. I got attacked last week for saying alternative medicine doesn't work even though I take supplements. The problem was the person obviously had no understanding of the difference between the 2 terms.

That is simply not true! State the facts madam!

You were not attacked...you were called out for continuously slandering the alternatives forum and offending our protocol. Many of us are well read, researched accomplished woman in here. You seem to forget that we all have/had cancer...and are doing the utmost in preventative care. Many of your statements are highly offensive.

Indeed you had the audacity to try and ruin my good name by accusing me of not being the person I've introduced myself as for the past year and a half...because I have not stated my diagnosis.

    Susieq58: wrote....

"Why don't more doctors use alternative medicine - Because it doesn't work!!!!!"

"WOM: Your time might be better spent researching the success of chemo/Herceptin for stage of cancer, instead of wasting your time trying to find the miracle alternative."

"Seems like all the crazies and attackers are from the alternative side IMHO-probably because they are scared they've done the wrong thing and are very defensive."

We are certainly not crazies, and whether you agree or not with the way some of us are handling our alternative approach to wellness, you should at least try to be more respectful in your delivery.

As I said in a previous post, I would love to hear more in the way of alternative protocols you and many other women are doing...that is why I am here - To share and discuss...

The term 'alternative medicine' is generally used to describe practices used independently or in place of conventional medicine. The term 'complementary medicine' is primarily used to describe practices used in conjunction with or to complement conventional medical treatments.

That's how you justify yourself...by being patronising. How petty.  A simple apology would be nice.

    You forgot to define crazy...

The term crazy is primarily used to describe a mentally deranged person.

I don't see mentally deranged people around here, susieq58!

The reason I called you out in the recent thread (which appears to be deleted) is because you had repeated this kind of statement twice.

susieq58 wrote: "Seems like all the crazies and attackers are from the alternative side IMHO-probably because they are scared they've done the wrong thing and are very defensive."

We are confident women in control of our lives! How dare you speak this way!

You are being corrected not attacked.

Once again...show some respect around here.

Stop fighting! It makes me want to take this thread off my list of favorites. I like the Ignore this memeber  option that was mentioned, but when I come here and I see mean words being exchanged it  is a real downer.
