Intramammary lymphnodes
I am new to this site and was looking for other people who have Intermammary Lymph Nodes Enlargement. I am a 41 yr old BRCA1. Stage 1. ER+,PR+. 100%. Had bilateral mastectomy Feb 2010. (Oopherectomy 2007). Had expanders put in Oct 2010. I have had 3 Cat scans since last August. First 2 showed two lung nodules and one liver cyst. They remain stable. 3rd Catscan shows enlarged IMLN. Possibly from trauma from implant surgery. I have to have a fourth Catscan in Oct to monitor IMLN and possible mestatisis. I had a reaction to dye contrast at 3rd scan but my onc says it is important to have 4th scan anyway. I will have to take prednisone and benadryl. I have had a tough time with Femara. Like having the flu everyday. Had every side affect except hair loss. Gained 20 pounds. Became depressed. Went on a drug vacay and felt great. Was prepared to refuse hormone therapy until this last Catscan result. Have had 2 days of Arimidex and the discomfort started immediately. I used to be very active, was a runner, but now I am in too much discomfort. I joined a gym and swim, bike and run in small doses. I so much want to say No to the AI's. If the IMLN is indeed mestatic, how do they treat it and what kind of prognosis am I looking at? I have 3 children (9,12,15) that I need to be around for but don't want to live miserably. Some insight would be appreciated. |

I don't have much info for you but wanted you to know I ma thinking of you. I have positive intramammary nodes at my initial diagnoses, the are doing chemo and then will do radiation after mastectomy. Have you had a biopsy to confirm?Hopefully it is from surgery, but my doc said chemo and radiation can be very effective.

Wow! I feel like I am reading my own story. I am 33 years old and was diagnosed at age 31 with Stage 3 ER+ and Her2 + IDC. I have 2 children (age 4 and 2) and at my most recent scans, they found an IMLN that is growing, a liver cyst that has been there for over a year and is no big deal, and 2 spots on my right lung. I am not super worried, but I know before my next CT scan in July I will probably freak out.
My oncologist at Vanderbilt has assured me that the increased size of the IMLN could be caused by the infection I got in December after my latissimus flap for reconstruction (my drain site got infected and caused my whole body to get septic). The lung spots...well, she says this could be just because we live in TN where there is an increased level of histoplasmosis. They are too small to biopsy right now, but I guess I am a little nervous because the spots were NOT there in December when I was in the hospital for the infection. And I certainly don't think I would have this histoplasmosis now when I have lived in TN for the past 6 years and been fine. Hmmm...
All I can offer to you is comfort and encouragement by letting you know that you are now added into my prayer journal and you can rest assured knowing that I am praying for a total healing for both of us. We just need to believe it and trust in the Lord to answer that prayer accordingly. I'll also be praying for your children!

Thanks to both of you for responding. I guess it is not a common dx. I was hoping for lots of insight. I would be very interested to know how things go for you in your journey. It can be so overwhelming at times. I will keep both of you in my thoughts and prayers as well. Please let me know how you are doing. Take Care.

Just wanted to share with you that a good friend of mine who was dx with Stage 3 BC several years ago had a MX and chemo. Then a couple of years later she had a recurrance in a IMLN. They were originally going to remove it surgically, but determined they could not operate on it at the last minute due to the location. Instead they decided to treat the IMLN with radiation ... it worked. She has been NED for over about 3 1/2 years now and is feeling better than ever!!!
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
