cb451: its nice to know they yo-yo emotions are normal.. thank you for sharing that... I have been getting more stressed these last few day knowing my rads are only beginning on Tuesday.. Good news is I found some tank tops XXL with a shelf bra - and it has cut down on the swelling .. guess my bras were just too tight for the moment. I so feel like a cow sometimes though.. even with half my breast gone - I feel bigger than before... Keep the sharing coming - I am so nervous...
-
GmaFoley: I can appreciate the nervousness. I'm only 9 down so I can't speak to the whole process, but so far it has been very doable. Try to enjoy your weekend!
BTW...an 8? I have Oncotype envy!
-
tinaj, my Oncotype score was 2!
-
My Oncotype score was 2! Anyone lower?!?
-
Braggart!
-
tinaj, thanks for responding. I thought queasiness was a SE for people having their abdomens radiated. However, I was told it wasn't a common SE for BC rads but that everyone reacts differently. I was offered medication but I don't want to take pills if I can avoid it; so, at their suggestion, I am dulling down my diet. But man oh man I was queasy on and off all day today. I can't wait for a rad-free weekend!
-
well 4 down and $3 up in scratch tickets, thought the constantly craving food was just me! it won't be loosing weight that will be the problem it will be gaining!, hope you all enjoy your long weekend

I have 6 more left, 1 whole tomorrow then 5 boosts. I saw my MO today, she looked at the fried extra extra large boob I have and said she was remarkably surprised at how well the skin is holding up. She said she didn't think with having 6 more only that I would be much worse than where I am now. She admitted to making my appt during rads to check on the skin and postpone treatment if she had to. Yeah me!
So with 6 left, my partial mastectomy boob is definitely red, almost maroon. It's more uncomfortable than painful. The RO gave me sample tubes lydocaine cream for rads and I'm applying that right before bed. My underarm feels a little sticky, but I keep moving the t-shirt under it to keep the skin from touching. I have not worn a bra since the first week, weird, but I think that really did help keep the damage down.
As for the question "What do you do all day?" I think "Heal" would be an appropriate answer!

GmaFoley, thanks for posting the nutritionist's list. I too have put it on my refrigerator and have looked up 100's of ways to do eggs on the internet. When my daughter was small, she refused to eat spinach so I got this recipe from a restaurant. Put one package of frozen spinach in a baking dish, add 2 tbls. of sour cream, 1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese, and sprinkle it with grated Parmesan cheese. Mix together and bake at 350 degrees until all cheese is melted. My daughter loves this so much, she asks for it at least once a week.
I'm having nausea too and I thought it was the Femara. I'm going to ask the dr. about it and I'll let you know what I find out. And 10 mg. Prozac helps with the panic attacks. Thanks for sharing, everyone. Big Hugs!
-
cb451--I've had several days of nauseau too.
I'm not supposed to hold my breath...I am supposed to breathe normally. I had bmx w/no reconstruction and they use a bolus every time. I wonder if that is the difference?
-
week #2 DONE!! Very happy to have a long weekend ahead!
Have a great 3 days off ladies!
-
ftblmom3: That's 33.3% done! (Be impressed with my math skills)
Have a great holiday weekend! -
#10 is done! Went to the gym after....
And I am SO GLAD to read other people are hungry....omgoodness!! It's horrible....I WISH I felt nausea instead...it's only 10:20 am and I've already eaten a whopping 1300 calories of my 15-1600 calories a day...
I woke up hungry, went to rads and the gym hungry, and came home and made brussel sprouts, bread and lean roastbeef, followed by a home made oatmeal choc. chip cookie.....that's a lot of food!! And I can't honestly say I'm "full." WT?!
-
TonLee: Me too on the hunger thing but at least you manage to fit some gym time in there! I'm an overating slug at the moment! If I'm not radiating or eating, I'm sleeping, working or giving the dog some well-overdue attention (although I did take her out and about for about 20 minutes yesterday). Ugh
-
Tina,
I can't decide if it's Rads or Tamoxifen....really really hoping it's Rads! At least it has an end date....Tamox goes forever....lol
I forgot to do my scratch off today...gotta dig it out and do it!!
-
Haven't started Tamoxifin yet...so must be rads!
-
cb451 i have had a couple of nauseas days, but it doesnt last and I really didnt relate it to rads, I think chemo likes to come and revisit me every once in awhile. Had herceptin yesterday so have the headache today. Last night I was so exhausted went to bed at 8:30, my DH had just gotten home from work and said whats for dinner, and I replied "nothing" I am going to bed. I dont think he understands what could be making me so tired either, since I am not working.

Hello everyone! I know we're all excited at the prospect of a 3-day week-end to let our skin get that extra day of rest. My husband reminded me that it also means the following week, we'll only have 4 treatments before 2 days of rest. Yahoo!!
I wanted to share something I came up with yesterday that's helping me in case it might help others. I've got that rash on my chest that itches a lot. I had been doing Aloe in the day and Aquaphor in the night. Whenever I put any clothing over the Aquaphor area, the itching got to be unbearable so I was only doing it at night (and sleeping topless). The rash got to the point where I knew more Aquaphor was the only option. I got some of those "Hospital Grade Gauze Pads" that are like several layers of soft gauze folded into a square and put that over the area with the Aquaphor. (rash is about 3" x 4"). The Aquaphor itself is sticky enough to hold it in place so no need for tape. On top of it all goes a soft t-shirt. With more Aquaphor time, the rash seems to be getting better.
Enjoy the week-end!
-
Thanks Gabby! I do that right now for my incision sight..to keep it soft and from splitting open...but once I get really red (where the bolus sits) I will do the bigger bandages!! GREAT IDEA!
Just picked my son up from school...fever of 103 and sore throat (strep is going around)...his dad is out of town this week, and the poor guy is just having a hard time...sprained wrist....sore throat....
I WON A WHOLE DOLLAR on my scratch off.
Envy me.
-
1 week down, a 3 day weekend and i've won $7 this week on the scratchoffs,

Hey gabbycal, I too have a rash after 15 treatments and like your suggestion. I thought I was the only one since I did not hear about this side effect. Up to this point I have been using Miaderm and that has been working ok. No appetite and a little tired other than that. By the way, I am doing Tomotherapy and hopefully I won't have any more side effects for the next 15 treatments.
Everyone have a good weekend and stay safe. -
Wooooooooooooo whooooooooooooooo....have a great birthday hdanglebaby!
Can you get your son to a clinic? Antibiotics kick in quick for strep usually...then you can both enjoy yourselves!
-
Hdangelbaby..HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
