This is the first time I've posted anything, anywhere, but I thought maybe some of you +++ sisters might know of a reaction like mine.  I had Stage 1 cancer 8.5 years ago, had a mastectomy, recomstruction, and Adriomyacin/Cytoxin.  Heart problems galore later.  At that time I was Plus, Minus, and Her2nu minus.  Felt a lump on the same side as my mastectomy.  No one thought it was anything until it turned out to be Stage IIb breast cancer - this time +++.  It might be a new primary.  Docs are scratching their collective chins.  Began Taxotere, Carboplatin, and Herceptin last Friday.  So far, nothing major, but I am yellow and black and blue from my port side down the side of my affected breast.  Anyone else have this kind of a rection?  Thanks.

Hi, Sharon ~ So sorry to read about your recurrence (or new primary) and also your heart problems from the Adriamycin.  I haven't had your experience, but I have read of quite a few women here who have had different stats with a second bc dx.  And the bruising sounds odd, but hopefully others will be along to weigh in.  If not, you might want to try reposting your question in another section -- maybe Chemotherapy? -- which would be a broader topic, and possibly seen by more people.  (Click on Forum Index above.)

Glad you've found BCO, and good luck with chemo ~   Deanna

I have had my port since Mar 1 and have had it accessed at least 14 times with no problem. yesterday I went for a CT scan and the nurse who stuck me raised me right out of the chair-I have never had it feel like that. I never use the Emla cream because it is so messy for a pain that lasts just a second-but I have 2 more sticks coming thos week so I will be rethinking that.

Anyway, I have a bruise this morning around the port site that is almost 2 inches across. I called my NP and they are going to check it out omorrow when I go for blood draw. I will let you know what they say. It is sore enough that the seatbelt rubbing on it hurt like crazy

How long ago did you get your port in?  I believe it is very common to have bruising from that.  All the tugging and pushing and pulling they do.  I know I did and it lasted for several weeks.
