Scared beyond belief

I am so scared that I have a mets to the brain. I am a 33 year old mom of a 2 and 4 year old and am truly freaking out. Here are my symptoms: constant nausea now for 2 weeks, forgetfulness, right hand tremoring, mood swings like crazy, sleepiness (needing nap every day). I told these to my oncologist last week and she advised me to keep a journal for 2 weeks and let her know if there were any patterns or changes. She started me on Prilosec in case the nausea was from silent reflux...it hasn't helped at all. And so far there are no patterns. Just random symptoms that occur everyday but in no order or pattern at all.

I emailed her last night (it's only been 5 days) per my husband's request because he thinks I need a scan now. If anyone else has had brain mets, were any of these things your symptoms?

At the very least you should go in to your onc for blood work to see if any cancer markers show up. I'm surprised they didn't do that right away. I'd be concerned too.

Demand some bloodwork, and go from there!

I'd be concerned about the tremor.  You need to call your MO again and tell her you are not improving. I think you need answers sooner rather than later.......

For your own peace of mind,, demand an MRI.. Scan to be sure there is nothing wrong..Blood work doesnt always tell you, if you have cancer or not.. My tumor markers were always normal, my blood work,, but yet I still had cancer...Wait till you get all the results, dont panic... stay calm.. Let us know how you do ok?

MRI and see a referral to see a neurologist..  you could always go thru your insurance company and sidestep the onc.

while my brain meningioma (tumor) is benign or so they say, , i have had various random symptoms since a major seizure i had just recently.. including sleepiness, forgetfulness, random movements..

    best of luck.

I am still waiting to hear back from her. I see where she read the email I sent last night but no reply yet. My blood work last week was all normal...but we don't do tumor markers as there isn't a great one that is used for breast cancer exclusively.

Should I email the nurse too to just make sure I'm not forgotten? Totally love and trust my doctor and know I am in the right place (vanderbilt), but I don't want to slip through the cracks either. And then the other part of me doesn't want to appear to be a crazy hyperchondriac.

You are not being a crazy hypochondriac!  I've had two brain MRI's in under 3 months for symptoms, the last one yesterday.  I have had persistent vertigo, "fullness" and pressure, headaches, and some nausea off an on for the past month.  I even fell yesterday going up concrete stairs.  Both MRI's were clear.

Push for the MRI - you need to know for your own peace of mind, and if the worst happens, the sooner they catch brain mets, the more treatment options are available.

    Hugs to you.

My doc called and scheduled me for an MRI of the brain, and a CT of the chest/abdomen/pelvis. I will have these done on Tuesday the 31st so not too much longer. I will be sure to update as I get results.

Had my scans yesterday. Now I am just waiting on the phone call. Lord let this phone ring TODAY! I promise to update when I hear. Thanks for your support gals! I am finding comfort here because you all really "get it" where no one else truly does.
